Love it, loved Derick too - can’t stand Ricky G weirdly, on a personality level I find him obnoxious with a superiority complex in general, but happy to put that aside and enjoy his ‘art’. |

This got me into him, struggled with the office but after this, his stand up was brilliant |

I had little time for Ricky Gervais back when he was doing The Office and Extras, but I caught the first episode of Derek by chance and it completely changed my perception of him. Karl Pilkington was surprisingly good in that too.
I’ve enjoyed both series of After Life so far, although not sure “enjoyed” is really the right word, but it certainly touched me having recently dealt with loss and the decline and death of a parent.
I also understand how important his dog is to him. |

Not sure if I will be watching just yet. My dad died of cancer since season two. A bit raw to watch at the moment for all of the family I imagine. The first two seasons were brilliant, probably the best Ricky Gervais has done. |

I found it helped, the tears came but the laughter followed |

I can't wait the first two seasons were a masterclass in tragic comedy one minutes your sobbing your eyes out with sadness then the next minutes pissing your self laughing ...just like real life I connected with so many things in the first episode
Can't wait for tommorow shame it's the last season |

Welcome back to a old friend in AFTER LIFE.
Just watched esp one and I’m a miserable bastard that seldom laughs but I laughed out loud.
I predict I will watch the other five today.
Beautiful and so well acted and written and a true rare joy to watch in my humble opinion.

"If you don’t cry at this programme you’re not human "
It’s amazing. I’ve never watched anything that can make me piss myself laughing and be crying 30 seconds later |

Isn’t it! I’m the same no shame in admitting it! It’s an absolute masterpiece of a show! |

Certain scenes are really close to home for me but weirdly it’s not the obvious ones. I was a mess after watching it. |

I might have to rewatch the last series. I’m probably not emotionally prepared for it but it’s just so good. |

I was thinking a while ago that I might well decide to kill myself if Charlotte died, but that I’m too much of a coward to just jump off a bridge. So I would probably have to take up bungie jumping. Once I got the hang of it, I could probably jump without the rope. But there was a possibility that the act of learning to bungie jump might get me over the suicidal despair, leaving me with no choice but to face life.
Then I heard that Gervais had already filmed this. Huh.
Now, if I ever decide kill myself, I’ll have to find some way to blame it all on Ricky Gervais, to extract a secret revenge. Heh heh.

‘I have decided to take my life because of Ricky Gervais’ cruel and unwarranted attacks on the Hollywood elite during the golden globe presentations’.
That should do it |

Thank you, I am sure it will, like it has helped many others. A natural response. |

"Will you be watching it, just the most amazingly written programme. Bawling and laughing with in seconds "
Agree with the skill of the writing. Have watched a couple of S3 episodes already but hate to say I’ve been rather disappointed so far. Missing some of the best cast members for me |

I'll be watching.
The first series came out just after my partner passed and I wasn't sure if I should watch it or not.
As it was it was very therapeutic. Some of his feelings and emotions were so true to life then the comedy was really funny. Such a great balance of both and I can't stand Ricky Gervais normally. |

"I watched it back to back on Friday. I don’t really like Ricky Gervais, but this show is excellent. I laughed and cried in equal measure. "
Same here. I can’t stand him normally, but this is genius |

Just finished series 3, it was good but not as good at the first 2. The last episode had me blubbing however I totally didn't understand the last scene, was it just open for interpretation? Or am I just too thick to understand it? Perhaps it just went over my head.
Totally missed Roisin, glad they got rid of the therapist though. |

If you have a Google Ricky explains it. Don’t want to give away any spoilers x |

I thought it was pretty straightforward at the end. Glad they didn’t go down obvious route(s) |

I definitely enjoyed the funny parts of the first 2 seasons but won't be watching this last one - the emotional taps being opened just hurts too much after losing both parents and a close friend in quick succession.
Totally hats off to RickyG for creating this though and I do understand how it's good therapy for some - it's just not for me. |

Couldn't stand Ricky G in "The office" but seen "Ghost town" and started to like his comedy, My 6 year old son passed away January 2020 and during lockdown 1 I was an emotional wreck (much like Tony in Afterlife) started watching and got to say he hit the nail on the head with the grief, I don't want to kill as many people now as I used to, lol |

Just watched the last episode of season 3. Cried quietly, thanked god (or biology) for my 3 lovely, healthy kids and told my nearly 2 year old dog that he’d better not die until he’s bloody old!
Makes you want to go out there and do some good in the world. Did for me anyway. Definitely the best thing I’ve seen Ricky Gervais in - and I think it’ll be a tough one for him to beat.
Also makes me a teensy bit sad that I’ve never had a ‘love of my life’ - and probably never will now.
Onwards and Upwards. Xx |
