I thought I start a 'The best of...' series of places people have stayed at, dinned in, visited etc and liked. This one is about nice Hotels or B&Bs in popular European destinations for a short break. Comfortable rooms,a nice bar for evening relaxation, lovely restaurant and food, perhaps some spa facilities, scrumptious and varied breakfast (there is a similar thread for smaller B&Bs and one for hotels in UK). If you know of one, just reply and add to the list below with the name and area please. I know everyone likes different things but could be a good starting point for anyone looking for one. Thanks.

I was in a Pesanta hotel in Madrid last week. It is very central, less than 2 minutes from the Metro. The bar is in the 9th floor and it also has a rooftop bar with 360° views of the city.
There are lots of great places to eat all around. |

Thanks for that. It does sound nice, especially with the panoramic rooftop bar. I am due a trip to Madrid sometime  |

I think there a few hotels on the Gran Via with rooftop bars. |
