But hang on hear me out...
Let's say we can make a 100% perfect clone copy of you. Same body, same mind, same feeling and memory. The copy is actually so much like you that in 1 week time it will completely forget it's a copy and start living your life as if it's their own.
Now for the bummer...
You're terminally ill, and your family doesn't know it yet.
Would you implant that copy of yourself into their life and never tell them?
P.S. This was on a podcast I listened to, apparently the movie Swan Song |

"That’s fucking deep.
I dont think it would be fair to do that to family and friends to be fair. "
That’s kinda my thought - it seems fraudulent, as it’s not really you. |

"So do you mean copy my terminal illness into my clone or not?
I don’t think so."
Ahhh never mind, got a but confused about the "implant that copy of your yourself into their life" as if my ill-ass was was some kind of crap upgrade to update the clone with |

Yeah, I would. My family has been through a lot with illnesses and just crap luck over the past year or so that I wouldn't want to add to that. If I had a clone that was the exact copy of me, then that clone has my blessing to take my place |

I think I would if the clone was going to out live me then my family and friends would get to spend more time with me as the clone is an exact replica with my mind and memories so would continue to be me and my family would be saved the pain and heart ache of seeing me terminally ill |

Super unsettling concept, I can see why they would make a movie out of it.
I personally wouldn't do that but then again I don't have anyone relying on me. Although not sure how I would feel about a clone potentially raising my kids, fuck this just gets creepier!
P.S. I don't actually know if that's what the movie is about. |

"If they didn't know I was already ill and the clone would carry on doing exactly as I would then probably but I don't really know "
The clone could do our planks x |

No, because life is not like thar.
Life and all it's existential experiences are what shapes us as well as shake us to the core at times. Transitions makes us grow. We need these transitions to move us forward as a species |

I think it's more a focus on the fact that the family is already struggling as it is, and possibly they see it as a saving grace. |

This is very true, give me that clone please. Also if the clone goes to the gym, do we get the gains? |

Wouldn’t make much difference if we’re about to kick the bucket anyway x |

So if the clone is exactly the same as you and has all your memories, mannerisms and traits etc… then effectively it’s a second you, the same person. you just have to die and it (you) will carry on like your death hasn’t happened
It’s the same as copying data from one memory stick to an identical one, then binning one of them. |

No I don't think so. I don't particularly want to die alone, which I would have to do. Death is part of life. I've lost loved ones. We don't need to fool people into thinking they haven't lost somebody. Everybody I know will get on OK without me even if they are sad I've gone. Luke |

"Watch altered carbon on Netflix, it’s loosely the same concept "
Not quite the same as with Carbon their original mind was transferred to another body.
In this movie the clone has it's own mind it just functions exactly the same as original |

Yeah why not?
When it's needed my wife can do the same and we'll just keep going. Sounds great
Might keep a couple of spare ones in the cupboard. Easier than organising meets on here |

Yeah I guess it seems ok. I mean it’s (the clone) isn’t doing anything wrong, it’s just being you. Which is essentially what it is. To stop the clone would be like if somebody for no reason you can understand stopped you living your life |

"Hoew do you know that this has not already happened??
it very well could have done, many of us could be on our 3rd or 4th clone but would never even be aware of it."
Or we could already be dead and don't know about it. All of this could just be our afterlife |
