Cream first or second?

"Two questions,
S-con or S-Cone ?
Jam first or Cream first? "
Very important questions! I usually ask these very early on to judge compatibility.
Scone as in gone.
Jam and then cream (despite living in Devon). If its good enough for the Queen, it's good enough for me. |

Pronounced to rhyme with con.
Cut in half. Butter with real butter not spread. Thick layer of strawberry jam. Pile on the clotted cream.
Eat and enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling of your arteries filling with cholesterol. Totally worth it |

"So much wrongness on this thread!
Don't you like a wrongun
Not when it comes to a cream tea
Good job we only meet for coffee then or it could be teaspoons at dawn
Whoever dawn is "
That's in spite of your wrong scone building preferences.

Cream on one half, jam on the other. Put together and they become reversible, with jam or cream on top, depending on your preference.
The perfect solution to the ‘argument’
I’m like the UN of afternoon tea discussion. |

Cream Tea Scones should be Jam first then Cream.
Same format for a Victoria Sponge unless like me you add a layer of fresh fruit on top of the cream, decadent or what? |

Tou only end up with half as much jam/cream with this method....and need a huge mouth to fit a bite in.
I know another wrong'un who suggested:
"I think mixing the cream & jam together into a pink Eton mess & applying to the scone is probably the best answer to this conundrum!!??"
We are obviously no longer friends |

Ancient manuscripts show that the monks of Tavistock’s Benedictine Abbey were indeed the people who created the Cream Tea. The Abbey, established in the 10th Century, was plundered and badly damaged by Vikings in 997AD. Restoration of the Abbey was undertaken by Ordulf, Earl of Devon, who rewarded his workers with bread, clotted cream and strawberry preserves made by the monks. A Devon cream tea!
So the answers are obviously Scone as in Gone and Cream first. Anyone who argues has misappropriated my heritage. |
