Good morning and Happy New Year, it’s the first MH check-in of 2022

I’m not doing too bad, got an assignment to write with a deadline of next Tuesday but have been feeling a lot less anxious. Not sure if it’s because I’m distracted by the work, or because I haven’t had any alcohol for 6 days have reduced my caffeine, possibly it’s a combination of all three. I’ve cut refined sugar out of my diet and am trying to eat better in general so hopefully that will also start to have an effect at some point.

So how does the first week of the new year find you feeling? As always, emoji responses are also welcome x

I’m bordering on the rather good thank you. I can’t explain why, but I’m feeling quite positive and content right now.

Well done, it’s easy for physical issues to get us down. I’m sorry things aren’t great on that front x

After years of being debt free we've only gone and bought a house so the old money worries are rearing their heads.

Going along with that there's concerns about the place and all kinds of jobs that need doing.

Apart from that, things are looking good.

Take care of yourselves, folks.

Sounds like a good start to the year……. Currently feeling pretty chilled as had a few days away from work but that all comes to an end tomorrow and it is back to dealing with the great British public who seem to think I can magic time into the day to accommodate them ahead of all others

Ask again in a week and I may not be in such a good place

This is the best start to a new year I've had for a very long time. My head is in the best place it's been since I can remember. I'm starting a new job tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it. Finally next Friday I get the keys to my new place.

The previous 5 years have been the polar opposite, so if you're reading this thinking "if only", don't give up. Your life can change in a moment, you'll have to make some changes yourself and stay as strong as you can be, but YOU CAN get out of that rut.

Good luck everyone with tackling whatever mountain is in your way and I'm always here if you want some random perv to listen to you about anything.

Okay today, but I could go daft by tomorrow night if on the first day back at work I have to deal with stupidity on the highest level.

I’m sorry you’re feeling anxious about the situation, I guess that’s pretty normal for anybody in your situation but probably more so given you’ve been debt free for a while. It all sounds exciting though! Good luck with it x

Great to hear your progress OP.

After a pretty boring Christmas and a blip at NY, I think I'm in a good place again. Have kept up with my exercise too so hopefully onwards and upwards....well until work tomorrow anyway

It's not particularly great today. Not sure why. Looking forward to work tomorrow as a distraction. I'm probably going to try and cry it out of my system today as I don't really have anyone to talk to/don't want to burden anyone about it. So cathartic films and music aplenty because maybe that will ease some of it. Even typing it has made me realise I'm being a bit of a numpty. No one needs that.

It's the first time I've posted in this kind of thread I think. No need to reply! Anyway, sending well wishes to you all, I hope things are/continue to be on the up for you.

Sending good wishes your way Meli.

It's back to work time for me tomorrow and I realise it doesn't take much time at all to get out of good patterns of sleep. This last couple of days I have been trying to get back to normal sleep patterns in preparation!

I raised a glass to toast my brother at New Year, gave myself some time to have a little cry and have generally been in a good place since.

Sorry you’re feeling a bit rubbish, you can’t beat a good cathartic cry when you’re down. Don’t try and minimalise your feelings, you’re definitely not being a numpty, emotions are human. Hope you’re feeling a little brighter soon x

I am feeling fairly energised, resilient and serene at the moment which is very different to most xmas periods.

I've started exercising again, I'm doing dry January and am kick-starting eating healthily

So far, so good

Best wishes to others who are struggling

I think I’m still buzzing from a hilarious evening with some good friends.

It can be an effort to go out and socialise, but this was definitely worth it.

I need to make an effort to keep doing it.

Good morning..

My mental health is in a good place at the moment after taking a bit of a battering over the festive break due to getting Covid and spending most of it on my own..

However I’ve done some much needed self care over the the weekend, reset my mindset and started the week on a much more positive note.

Just had a lovely walk and heading to the gym in a bit. I’m doing dry January and practicing mindfulness & meditation.

Fingers crossed I can keep it up.

Sending positive vibes to everyone.

It’s just a relief to get up in a morning and not have to start dealing with the physical sensations of anxiety! And I agree, it rebalances the often depressing world view to see a bit of care and consideration for others
