I live in York, which is a great location for guys like me that love visiting gay saunas, since there are two in Leeds and one in Dewsbury, as well as some slightly further afield.
I'm actually originally from Grimsby, and after a bit of research as to where to visit when I go home to visit my parents, I have found that there are NO SAUNAS IN LINCOLNSHIRE AT ALL!
I'm seeing this as a bit of a missed opportunity at the minute. It's got me wondering whether a sauna in my home town could be a profitable idea. Property in this town is incredibly cheap, and owning and running a gay sauna is something I can totally imagine myself doing.
I have absolutely no idea how current saunas were originally set up- are banks likely to give business loans for such a purpose or are saunas usually privately funded? Could the currently popular method of "crowdfunding" raise enough to buy and kit out a building for purpose?
If any people reading this have any experience running or setting up their own saunas I would be delighted for any information they could provide. |

And if you do get financial backing finding a suitable venue in a rural area would be a nightmare. They all tend to be conservative in attitude and you'd probably have huge local opposition from nimby groups. You'd quickly find yourself lumped in with the sex offenders and targeted by vandals.
That's why you only tend to get them in areas with a big gay population or tolerant area. |
