We are currently enjoying a lovely coffee and cake in a small place in Spitalfields London.
The place is called Watchouse.
We had a really great Steak at Flat Iron earlier too.
I'd say the nicest steak I've had in a good while.
So.
What, or where are your fave places to eat or have coffee?

Usually country pubs are my taste. Not too keen on hip city venues.
I prefer somewhere where I could go in from a country walk with my boots on and relax by a nice fire.
I'm less about the image of a place and more about feeling at home.

I like going off the beaten track and looking for the independent restaurants and coffee shops...
Visit Edinburgh a lot and my favourite cafe is Cafe Marmalade! They are very olde world, you walk in and there is the owners familiaral pictures on the walls, a book shelf full of books and random old artefacts. It is lovely and they make the best Scottish fry up
For dinner it's the Chophouse, fine dining steakhouse. Very elegant with food to die for
Favourite chippy is the Fishmarket up in Newhaven Leith, right at the seaside and using fish caught that day from the local dock. |

Yes.. I loved a place in Nottingham called the Steamboat which was like that.
After a long walk down the canal path.

Admittedly it's been way too long since I last visited Sheffield.
I feel I must get there sometime soon.

Flat Iron is fantastic and very good value.
I'm going to name one of each, closer to home - The Bear's Paw in Warmingham. Fantastic food, not ridiculously priced, pleasant atmosphere. Love it.
For coffee... The Park Coffee shop in Wrenbury does delicious food and spot on coffee.

We discovered in the summer a great restaurant in Wolverhampton called Daffodils. It doesn't look great, they only accept cash but my god the food is great. And very well priced. It's Turkish food.
Also have very fond memories of The Hanoi Bike Shop. A Vietnamese restaurant in Glasgow. Great food and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the hot yoga lesson going on in the building opposite. Shame their windows steamed up after a while |

I highly recommend it! It’s as authentic as it gets very unique and pretty much unchanged |

La Garrigue in Edinburgh is an amazing French bistro.
Yu Copster Green in Blackburn a delicious Chinese.
And I'm lucky enough to be near some wonderful Michelin Starred venues.
Northcote,
The white Swan Fence,
The Angel at Hetton,
And that isn't even counting the many many without stars in the guide... The northwest has some amazing places to eat. |
