It's one of them songs that gets the feet tapping, yet it's not that widely known
Having had a little snoop on Wiki, it only reached #50 in the US Billboard Charts and #3 in the UK Charts as a re-release
That got me thinking, had this song been released as a single at the time by a more well known / popular group, would it have made #1?
So, do we know any other songs that we think could have made number 1, had another artist released them?
How much is the success of a song is down to the popularity of the artist that releases it?
e.g. are Ed Sheeran songs popular because they are great or because Ed is riding his fame & popularity right now? |

Oooh I know 2….
The who… my generation… never got to no.1
Also… there are a whole bunch of Beatles songs you would have thought would have been a number 1 and never were… you would be surprised!!!
The quizmaster at my local use to have a round called number 1 or not… and use to slip in Beatles songs all the time |
