Haha. Bowlers (Trafford park) early 90’s. Oh my god. I went maybe twice, I thought I was into rave until I went there, I think that’s what killed it for me, i reeled it in to just likening dance.
But, one of those memories that makes you think ‘what the hell?’ |

Ohhh yes an original raver here...80's and the 90's...best atmosphere in clubs, no fighting...Blackpool had a few top clubs...Sequins, Zone, Shaboo, Oz, Main Entrance, Hell, also went to Wigan Pier, all nighter in Morcambe, not so keen on Back to Basics when I went there, Shaboo in Liverpool was good too, didn't bother with all the 'had to dress a certain way' clubs as the atmosphere was never as good or as friendly...no one really wanted to dance a sweat on we found them a bit clicky too. |

"What modern stuff you listen to
Bicep seem to have that 90's rave feel"
They’re a bit Orbital, I think. In a good way.
Actually, Orbital are about to release a 30th anniversary set.
I’m old now, so it’s Jon Hopkins, Orb spin-off projects (Chocolate Hills, Gaudi & Youth, Sedibus) and other really laid back stuff. Boards of Canada. |

caught a few in disused warehouses around the north of the M25 area/greenwich with a bunch of my neighbours in the days when they kept the actual location quiet till the night... car chases around first to find where everyone was heading lol
flower pot hats with peace symbols, tee shirts with smiley faces, whistles, light sticks and led finger rings... glow in the dark make up and bracelettes, dungarees with funky logos daubed on them... and banging tunes to leap around to, what was not to love???
good times. Hahaha!!! |

Stuck on this rock & a couple of years too young meant never getting to any proper raves but loved the mix tapes & ended up mobile DJing & a huge 12" single collection plus Abstract Hypermoon & Wildstar club lights. In my head I still live in that era musically.
Together, 2 For Joy, Pierre Feroldi, Love Decade, all the goosebumps names lol. I'd have loved to have been a podium dancer as Gemma lol, my dream.
Fantazia crew tshirt still hangs in the wardrobe to this day. |

Anyone in the south need a clubbing buddy? My friends are all slowly hanging up their trainers. . . .
I’m planning on seeing bicep this year, plus some old favs as well as new talent. Had a great time in Croatia @ dekmantel and @ Love International. Sunshine and dancing. Bliss. But love being in a dark dingy club, next to the speaker stack with the condensation running down the walls too.
You just can’t find that in a club these days ?? |

Lol, I know what you mean about age. I was at an orbital gig a few years back, and it was full of ex ravers who were now middle aged bald blokes
I listen to your choice of music too. Try Rival Consoles, Ulrich Schnaus, and Luke Abbott too. |

Danced with Ultrasonic back in the day and had many DJ friends. The 90's rave scene without doubt will be the best time of my life. Went to a rave a few years ago and after a 3 day "hangover" my raving days are well and truly over. Will stick to putting the tunes on now and again and having fond memories

Went to the Rez Reunion a few years back reliving my youth, amazing how many ravers came out of retirement for one night only x |

"Dub war chapter one
For your listing pleasure "
I remember seeing Dub War play at the Cavern in Exeter back in the 90s... Until I couldn't see them any more cos I was right at the front and one of the singer (Benji)'s dreads caught me right in the eye and knocked a contact lens out.
Memorable. |

I think the last of those clubs are in Eastern Europe now? Everything's too sanitised and regulated over here.
I'd love to go KHIDI in Georgia, looks hard. |

Old skool here….. was just a little too young to go out raving but loved the music , TTF, Tom Wilson, fantazia Big Bang, bass generator , gabba etc etc had loads of tapes lol.
Late 90’s early 2000’s trance /hard house was my era …… I guess that’s probably classed as old skool now too |

Original "Trade" baby here love my Old skool. Went to Turmills, The End, Clockwork Orange events. Loved the dark seedy underground venues opposed to the big events. Did few warehouse parties n loved the after-parties, more relaxed n underground.
Can't stand the "EDM" movement as it is today or whatever they call it and seeing events on-line where the crowd stand in front on the DJ with their phones in air making videos just spoils it completely for me.
I still listen a lot to the old stuff I grew up on but things change and the current music just fails to give me the goosebumps n euphoria that the old skool does.
Manage the odd night n ave tickets in Feb for the Trade 30th reunion which was meant to happen last yr. Will be interesting to see how long I last! |

If you haven’t gathered I’m a massive hard trance and gabba fan.

When you say Sheffield, how can you miss out Gatecrasher at the Arches or when they moved it to the Adelphi.
Tony De Vit at the Adelphi was like nothing you've ever experienced anywhere else. |

I'm the same age as you, I was going through my early to mid 20s, the last venue they ran it at was the Republic before it burned down in mysterious circumstances.
