So there are 12 days of Christmas (not including advent, easter eggs etc)

When do you switch off your lights?

5 Jan or 6 Jan or Twelfth Night?

Nearer than you think

5th Jan. My dad died on the 6th, so I prefer to get all the frivolous decorations out of the way the day before. Not sure why; he loved Christmas.

5th Jan for lights. Most other stuff is put away before then. We don't put decorations up until around 22/23rd anyway

Aha! I know that! - but there is often some controversy about when exactly is 12th night! Thank goodness we are not either in Russia or the Island of Foula (Shetlands)!

Nollaig na mBan or Womans Christmas on the 6th January also meant to be the day women do nothing and the men take over
