Now i'll confess - I haven't been to the gym, worked out, pumped iron, gatecrashed a fitness class, hopped on an exercise bike, done a few laps of the pool, lifted some weights or in fact anything to get the heart racingamnd blood flowing in a positive, health inducing way for fuck knows how long!

Apart from the odd stroll, some bedroom gymnastics and my blood prssure rising looking at certain profile pics - i'm generally a tad lazy when it comes to keeping in shape.

I eat a fair bit of crap (some may have noticed my cake addiction and also a penchant for chocolate and squirty cream!), I drink coffee, I smoke - and apart from the last few days (and until the 10th - can't resist a challenge!) I partake of the odd alcoholic beverage!

Yet when I had a recent medical (work insurance purposes!) I was told I was fit as a fiddle and in good health!

So am I just a jammy bastard with a good metabolism?

What's your view on exercise? A regular thing through enjoyment of need, or something you'd prefer to avoid if possible?

And what's your favourite workout?

Active lifestyle will keep you fit if you are walking places and stuff. My fave workout has got to be sexual, love to fuck tiger and gives me a good workout.

Used to love cycling but got put off by a few near miss accidents caused by inattentive drivers, so mostly walking and sexual for me these days.

Used to be able to eat and drinkwhat i liked and get away with it, then my metabolism just died. Coupled with a ligament injury to my knee a couple of years ago i piled on the pounds and hit 18 stone. I started working out again at the start of the year now my knee is better, and have lost 2.5 stone so far. I juste xercise to keep fit now, i feel better for it.

I've tried a few times over the years and I just can't get excited about a trip to the gym... it's just something i can't get my head into.

I used to do loads of team sports in my yoof.. but gave it all up when kids were small.

I've recently taken up playing hockey and am really pleased with myself - after a 13 year break, I have lost none of my inability to play at a decent level!

Ha...I totally don't believe in exercise anymore, I decided to try it and what happened? I'm now on crutches for the foreseeable future

And before anyone asks, no, I wasn't jumping off the wardrobes

Yes, you're just a jammy bastard!! Careful though, it'll catch up on you one day.

I'm back to the workouts this week after having 2 weeks off due to a stinking cold - and I was like a bear with a sore arse! Exercise makes me feel good mentally, (although you wouldn't think it with the amount of effin n jeffin I do during body combat), even if it takes forever to show physically!! I've also just started body rock - but I'm crap at it - not as young as I once was!

Obi, no fair, I wanna eat cake and not get fat!!!!

With Mrsd being a chef we have a great diet without dieting which helps us keep in shape along with a couple of gym visits a week. We keep the workouts nice and easy through the winter months and then kick them up when holiday time arrives

After all the sports I've participated in since school age till I was fifty, I'm now on the scrap heap.

My recent bone and ct scans showed a lot of wear and tear consistent with a very active lifestyle ........ I'm just going to indulge in armchair athletics and scoffing cake and icecream from now on.

I used to be fit and quite active and sporty. I still go through phases. I find exercise addictive once I start but the habit breaks quickly if something gets in the way and stops me going for a few weeks.

I was a skinny kid and I was slim in my 20's.

I'd like to be slim again but subconsciously I won't let myself. I've also broken my metabolism over the last 20 years by not looking after myself and I don't know how to fix it now.

I'd like to be fitter though and am working on it, albeit very slowly at the moment.

I don't smoke and I rarely drink (honestly!), but my eating is very irregular, with binge/starve cycles, my diet is bad, I'm a stress monkey almost totally unable to relax and my sleep pattern and quality is beyond awful. My blood pressure is always perfect, which surprises everyone, given my size. My cholesterol is good. I have asthma, which I was born with but it's well managed. So for a fat bird who thoroughly neglects and mis-treats herself, I'm lucky to be as healthy as I am. Mentally though, at the moment, I am a mess.

I could do with some fitness inspiration at the moment. I know it's something I have to do for myself though, really.

Moderate consumption, non addictive nature and good genetics have helped but joined a gym about 6 months ago; start with 20 mins stretching and plank type stuff (nor sure if that’s the official technical term) on tremor board, 5k on rowing machine, 5k on exercise bike, few reps of calf raises and leg presses then 20 mins warm down and massage on tremor board. Do this 2 -3 times a week. Have a pull up bar at home and small dumbbells that I ‘play’ with whenever I pass them. Seems to do the trick and is almost enjoyable … if nothing else the gym helps avoid the mad rush out of town.

Thinking of joining the spinning classes at the gym but they do look to be HARD work!

I love exercise!

I do 3 different martial arts, run, lift weights, and skip (pretty good piece of exercise equipment for £3!).

Looking to replace running with cycling though as I want my knees to last into my old age!

I have never really enjoyed exercise (as you can see from the resulting body shape lol)

I blame miss goacher from my secondary school, she was a bitch lol having said that I did play for our school football team, the first ever girls team at the school

Tried about 4 sessions of rugby training a few years ago and nearly threw up after running round the pitch lol

I do like horse riding (need a big fecking horse though) and wish I had the money to do it more often.

Have decided to go back to Ceroc dancing again this week as I loved that......dancing with a different guy every 5 mins

Then of course there's sex......the only exercise I go looking for haha

I had a message from a hot personal trainer on here recently but I wasn't in the best state of mind at the time. For some strange reason he vanished when I described exactly how my body looks and how I felt about it right at that moment!

Getting a sweat on and gasping for breath is my personal indication of a damn good workout. Don't think I'd feel 'worked out' if I did yoga or pilates, although they're great for core work - but the sweatier the better for me!

Alot of women are coming along to the boxing gym since the olympics...you can do your own thing or join in with the trainers,i highly recommend it for women who want to get fit...after a few weeks of the circuit training you have a spring in your step....and get to watch all the fit men.

No, you're an average 36 yr old male!!! At your age I was cycling 250 miles a week, fit as a fiddle, got taken for a Pierce Brosnan look-a-like (honestly!!!) and felt the same as you.

Now at 51, I am on blood pressure meds, statins and need Viagra - Lol!!! Oh, and I need to lose a 'few pounds'.....

In short, it creeps up on your like a rash - and then, just the same - it's bleedin hard to get rid of!!

Enjoy your health now. And be aware that in the not too far off future, you need to keep a close eye on things. Wish I had........

To the OP : I think you are lucky to be in such good shape given that you never had to work hard at it - some people just have good genetic material.

I am (touch wood) quite fit as well and (not but) I have always done some form of exercise simply because I enjoy the feeling of physical exhaustion and the company of like-minded people in the gym - there is a real buzz when weight lifting or doing cardio with a friend.

I broadly follow the 80/ 20 rule... doing/ eating the right thing 80 percent of the time and the remainder I go wild...
