Anything special food-wise where you're from or where you've lived in the past? Something people outside the area might not have heard of?
Being from Wolverhampton the speciality round here is fa-ggots and peas (or faggits and grey pays in the local accent).
Personally I can't stand it. The texture is revolting.
What can you bring to the table? |

My partner loves oatcakes. They're like these spongy pancakes that don't taste of much and you fill with bacon or sausages or cheese, roll up and eat with ketchup or brown sauce. Or if you're me and humouring him with salad and 3 cheese filling. |

I fucking love oatcakes with fried bacon and cheese.
It’s the only thing I miss about not working in Stoke these days. |

I’m a fellow Wulfrunian but have never had the pleasure of tasting ‘gray pays’ but I’ve never actually heard anyone say that they like them, everyone says they’re disgusting so it’s amazing that they have become a local delicacy haha.
Orange chips are also a Black Country delicacy but I prefer normal chips. For the uninitiated, orange chips are chips that are very lightly battered, pretty much every chip shop in Wolverhampton offers a choice of plain chips and battered chips (some only do battered). |

"Yorkshire fish cake
Henderson’s Relish
Breadcake
Bakewell tart "
Ok I had to look up breadcake.
I was hoping for cake (obviously) but it appears to be a chip butty. Nothing wrong with that but slightly disappointing |

"Dorset Knobs
This needs explaining
*I know a few Manchester Knobs "
They are a savoury biscuit made from fermented dough.
Basically a blob of dough about half the size of a fist, baked several times in succession to make them very crisp. They can be flavoured by adding to the dough but most are plain.
There is also an annual competition The Dorset Knob throwing.
Which is fairly self explanatory.
We also have the annual nettle eating competition.
We are a strange lot down here. |

Anyone who has been to Northern Ireland will be aware of the pasty...
Not like a Cornish one - they are deep fried and battered.
Kind of like a potato fritter, but made of sausage meat, onion and potato with spice/seasoning |

Every month I get brought down, Beef Olives, Square Sausage, Stornoway black pudding, steak links, butcher's own steak pies, potato scones, and butteries, the last one being what the hairy bikers featured as a local delicacy on their tour of Great Britain. No prizes for guessing where I originate from. Also any of you girls want a free holiday in Wales, that's your shopping list above before getting on train or plane. |

For those who've mentioned orange chips, you're right I forgot them. Personally I don't think they're all that. I normally go for normal chips.
Should also mention the classic from Scotland that my husband introduced me to - the hoagie. Delicious and helps you put on half a stone in one sitting |
