You're not trying hard enough. Jim's mum wishes people a happy new year in February. She probably does it in March too.

Jim's Mum knows her stuff then.

Happy New Year is wished to people on the FIRST occassion of you seeing them that year.....

So. ..... if she sees them at any point in 2022 for the first time she is still in order to wish them Happy New Year.....

Maybe not after June tho ......

No is my answer.

Once it's past the 25th no reference to Christmas should be made.

Same for Jan 2nd

So when do you take down your Xmas tree? My neighbours keep it up till 6th Jan, epiphany day. Some people celebrate that day as well as Xmas and new year

I found this on the interthing.......

According to etiquette expert, Lisa Forde, people want to settle into the new year as quickly as possible without being reminded that it is a new year, or that new year’s celebrations and Christmas are over. I understand it’s a wish that lasts all year round, but nothing comes from a prolonged new year wish. There are many superstitious things to do to bring you good luck for the new year but saying happy new year after January 1st isn’t one of them.

There you have it. You can stop wishing everyone a happy new year at 11:59 pm, January 1. Here is to a new year filled with new beginnings and healthy resolutions.

King's Crustacean

The Metro carries an article that suggests that prolonged Happy New Yearing has an adverse effect on folk who are already psychologically committed and active.......

So ..... I've changed my mind Jim ..... cos ......truth be told I hate it when we go back to work and everyone keeps saying happy new year ...... especially when my head left the holiday behind ages ago ..

It does sound hollow and insincere.

Anyway....... Happy Christmas. x

I feel incredibly weird listening to any christmas music in this period in the wilderness of 26th-31st. Also to any freak that says Happy new year after the second week of January needs to see a Dr!
