Just discovered there is a tv show about women choosing a wedding dress. WTF?
How can that be of interest to anyone outside the bride and her mother?
Can’t believe anyone would watch such tosh.
Before we know it, there will be shows on baking and even ballroom dancing next! |

Pmsl these shows have been running a good length of time now. I think it's entertaining seeing the families or friends reactions. |

People like gossip. There's a theory that language evolved for the purpose of gossiping. It seems to have played a very important role in our evolution and ask these programs have latched onto the fact that taking about what other people do/say/wear etc is one of the biggest means of entertainment.

I don’t understand why anyone watches rich people in Chelsea, having minor bust ups with each other. But the makers of these programmes are obviously getting paid so they must be popular.
I watch Succession a drama about big business and family rivalry. But is it just a distance cousin of Eastenders ? It’s just like a soap opera in the end.
So I try not to be snobby about what’s on TV (currently watching Gomorrah, recommendation for you ) as it’s trying to cater to many different people. I suspect it’s background telly not something you actually sit down and study. |
