RSBT is one of the best films of the 80's. The look, sounds, situations etc are spot on. It reminds me of my childhood, and worryingly the girls all looks like how my older sister and her pals did. Oh god.

Leeds (close to GAP)

One of the classic British films, everyone can identify with at least one of the characters, and anyone who knows Bradford will know it's very, very true to life!

'I can't 'elp being a Paki!" and "First you need an erection"

Brilliant film!

A gritty, true to life film.

I was born and bread in Yorkshire.

It truly reflected everyday life of both council estates and the modern detached private estates.

Indeed, I can quote every word a WPC said to me once in general conversation - "in those sort of areas, you're not normal if you're not sleeping with next doors kids"

I have actually re-enacted the final scene, in my bed(sadly on my own) and called my other half in, using the same lines when she walked through the door.

I was sitting upright in bed with the union flag on the duvet..."Silly bugger!" she thought to herself" When I shouted the infamous line"you took your fuckin' time!"

And we were all exposed to stuff like that, but to a degree we still needed to find out what was what, one way or another. No google, only urban myths, rumours and the stuff done in front of your face.

For all the PC stuff surrounding sex and its ills ( as well as the good stuff) the protection this generation COULD have, many circumvent these protections, as we did and enjoy less than appropriate things by choice. Thats not to say that they choose the harm thats a consequence of these choices.

10 years time, despite the safeguarding and promoting of good practices, there will be the same concerns that we reflect on previous generations as we do now.

If anything, programmes like this need preserving and airing if nothing more than to show how we are moving away from a dragged up and abused society and to one where attempts to put something tangible and good back into childhoods.

Yeah, I see what you are saying, but......

Maybe Bob still has the fabulous SD1 for the same reason he still has the fabulous Wimpey / Barratt timber frame, massively powerful detached house with Corinthina Columns at the door way?

The film comes with a reputation but most who see it instantly recognise the world portrayed. Along with the effortless black humour it definitely was Britain with its knickers down.
