RSBT is one of the best films of the 80's. The look, sounds, situations etc are spot on. It reminds me of my childhood, and worryingly the girls all looks like how my older sister and her pals did. Oh god. |

One of the classic British films, everyone can identify with at least one of the characters, and anyone who knows Bradford will know it's very, very true to life!
'I can't 'elp being a Paki!" and "First you need an erection"
Brilliant film! |

A gritty, true to life film.
I was born and bread in Yorkshire.
It truly reflected everyday life of both council estates and the modern detached private estates.
Indeed, I can quote every word a WPC said to me once in general conversation - "in those sort of areas, you're not normal if you're not sleeping with next doors kids" |

I have actually re-enacted the final scene, in my bed(sadly on my own) and called my other half in, using the same lines when she walked through the door.
I was sitting upright in bed with the union flag on the duvet..."Silly bugger!" she thought to herself" When I shouted the infamous line"you took your fuckin' time!" |

I think it's a generational thing
I found it hilarious
I watched it with my OH who is 25 years my junior
His first reaction was "this is a film about a paedophile" |

"Gets an airing on Talking Pictures at 21:05 tonight.
Awful film, thanks for letting me know to avoid it "
Like you needed to know that. Simple browsing of tv listing would tell you its on.
But I guess you needed to state your superior intellect? |

It's good to see attitudes have changed over the generations..... |

....and it's in the 80s ffs!
It shows how much we've moved on in society.....
The tune in the function room is bad enough on its own...with Grandma and under 18s hip thrusting to '"we're havin a gangbang we're havin a ball" |

And we were all exposed to stuff like that, but to a degree we still needed to find out what was what, one way or another. No google, only urban myths, rumours and the stuff done in front of your face.
For all the PC stuff surrounding sex and its ills ( as well as the good stuff) the protection this generation COULD have, many circumvent these protections, as we did and enjoy less than appropriate things by choice. Thats not to say that they choose the harm thats a consequence of these choices.
10 years time, despite the safeguarding and promoting of good practices, there will be the same concerns that we reflect on previous generations as we do now.
If anything, programmes like this need preserving and airing if nothing more than to show how we are moving away from a dragged up and abused society and to one where attempts to put something tangible and good back into childhoods.

"It's a film of its time reflecting life in the 80s."
This is very much a sobering thought.
Just as "Warhorse" was a film which reflected life in the 1914-1918's

"Bob must be alive & well driving a brand new white BMW. How cool would that be owning the private plate off the fabulous SD1 V8!!"
Yeah, I see what you are saying, but......
Maybe Bob still has the fabulous SD1 for the same reason he still has the fabulous Wimpey / Barratt timber frame, massively powerful detached house with Corinthina Columns at the door way?
They both rot from the inside outwards? |

"Brilliant that will get the snow flakes wokes what ever else there called screaming love it like Benny hill show other week "
I do love this kind of response. Let's see, what should my response be to this thread. I could go with I liked that film, I didn't like that film, I thought that film was funny, that film reminds me of ....
Or, I'm looking forward to it being aired, it will upset a bunch of strangers I don't know and that pleases me.

"I like the nosey guy in the garden with his hose pipe.
Yes the films not right but shows cheerfulness beats class and social barriers.
He was the barman from Corrie."
As in Fred ?
How did I miss him... |

"Listened to a radio play, a few months ago, about the life of the author Andrea Dunbar.

I just googled her out of interest, it is such a sad story and died at such a young age. What a talented intelligent lady to have started play writing aged 15 and to base it on real life she obviously wanted to highlight what was happening |

The film comes with a reputation but most who see it instantly recognise the world portrayed. Along with the effortless black humour it definitely was Britain with its knickers down. |

It was Paul Hodges. Just checked IMDB to find out.
Mind you they don't half look similar.
Separated at birth. |

She is lass, she is.
Mind you, they do look similar. Should've gone to Specsavers! |
