No we are proper northern in England not exactly the same accent. Not heard Carlisle sound Scottish it's Cumbrian! But i do understand the accent, My ex had Scottish accent but was half English and i did live near Glasgow with him.

only time he was ever in Britain was when he had finished his us national service and he was flying home and the plane stopped at prestwick for half an hour to refuel as it was military in those days

I’m originally from a fair bit away from the central belt so my accent is not as strong as Glasgow for example lol Oh god yeah some is really strong accent! His wasn't strong, It was a mixture as he lived up here and his family were Scottish you see. I did enjoy going to Troon a little small place and Glasgow amazing for shopping haha I know Troon reasonably well and all down that coast, killie, ayr, ardrossan, Saltcoats. Some really tough ex mining villages there too x We lived in Killie was crap! I liked Prestwick beach his mam lived near the airport. Haha x Elvis was there lol Was he? Well he must of been a ghost only time he was ever in Britain was when he had finished his us national service and he was flying home and the plane stopped at prestwick for half an hour to refuel as it was military in those days Oh right! Think i heard he had been in Britain once. I walked on the same ground as Elvis yes but also the same ground as Ian Brady unfortunately "

Not heard Carlisle sound Scottish it's Cumbrian! But i do understand the accent, My ex had Scottish accent but was half English and i did live near Glasgow with him. you will be fine then, no I didn’t imply that northern England people sound Scottish just that they can likely understand us better.
