I worked for Our Price back then - I remember the first day CDs were released (I think the first one in the shops was a Phillips classical CD). There were people queueing around the corner and we sold all 100 copies in the first hour. Two hours later, some people were bringing them back, totally shocked that their new purchase "jumped" in a similar way to LPs. People had been led to beleive that CDs were un-scratchable.

BTW, if any of you have any original CDs from back then, if they have "patent pending" stamped on the back of the jewel case, they're worth a fortune.

My first CDs were all freebies
