Tested covid positive yesterday and now feeling rough as fuck.

The illness I can cope with but the thought of ten days isolation is really bumming me out. This year was going to be the first year with my sons visiting in my new place.

Gutted.

It's not ruined, hopefully you'll be well enough to video call them.

Be positive, it could be so much worse

Kinda in a similar situation here, brother was meant to visit but his wife tested positive, spending Xmas alone with a tonne of food & drinks lol

Hope you make a speedy recovery.

Think there's going to be quite a few in similar circumstances. Hope you feel better soon. Get a couple of good books!

Thats shitty news, however just move their visit (if you can) to the New Year and plan for a big blow out then.

Just focus on keeping yourself as comfortable as you can over the next few days.

Really sorry for you o/p. Maybe video chat and have dinner at same time. We did that last year and it worked very well.

Aww OP I hope you haven't got it too bad, sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I am recovering from it, and today is my last day of isolation.

Try to think of crimbo being delayed rather than ruined. I know it's not ideal but believe me your sons would rather miss out on one meal and have a healthy dad to share a meal with in January.

Take care

It is today's headline news on BBC website

Test with lateral flow day six and day seven. If both negative you can stop isolating

That's madness (madness they call it madness), it's such a wrong move, only because of rising cases. As if lateral flow tests are that reliable. This new rule will make things worse imho

We were previously told that lateral flow tests didn't work for people with symptoms and would show negative so get a PCR test

Me too, also if you're previously been tested positive there was no point testing again for 3 months because the traces are still in your body.

If a LFT shows negative twice on day 6 and 7 then clearly they don't work
