I'm sorry Mrs TMN, I hope you've braced yourself for some waffling. It's in honour of you because I've missed seeing you OP-ing so that's forgivable I think.
I love the spirit at this time of year. People are kinder, they're more welcoming to others. There's more of an air of goodwill to all, of charity to those less fortunate and bad tidings are put aside for the most part.
I love the food. The occasion of it all. Whether that's the traditional roast, the sickly sweet festive drinks d*unk by the masses that make corporations rub their hands together and give a bonus to the marketing team. The decorations, from the garish to the simple. The foliage that adorns a door. The inviting, twinkling lights. A mince pie warmed up and gleefully scoffed, when another is offered the traditional back and forth of "Oh I shouldn't", "come on now, it's Christmas, live a little".
The little rites, traditions of various cultures that mix together beautifully to form a hotpot of new identity, of a unique Christmas to the celebrator.
There are so many reasons I love this time of year. |

The lights, the weather, nature's flourishes and new shoots pushing through as the days lengthen again..
People seem generally more upbeat /lighter - i 'plug' into them to feed off their energy as i personally find it a very flat/dark time of year |

Good home cooked food and lounging about. Though this year I may help out a bit more with the cooking...
Wellll, I'm considering it...
unless of course I'm told to stay out the kitchen and stop being silly...in which case, I'll have to oblige |

It has to be all the lights. Both when driving about and seeing the house and town lights, and lights in your own home. When Im up in the dark for work on a morning I just sit in the glow of the christmas tree lights drinking my tea. Lovely. |
