What tips do you have to help someone maintain a diet long term?
For me, it would be to have variety in your meals while keeping them healthy.

Don’t demonise the foods deemed ‘bad’ by influencers. I’ve lost a huge lump of lard and have done it while still enjoying the fun stuff.
Boring ‘diets’ are usually unsustainable and most fail because they’re miserable while trying to follow them. |

Ill have you know those are classifications of body types that indicate how your body processes nutrients, how it retains and burns them off and indicates levels of muscle growth through physical work

Avoid wheat, rice, pasta and all processed carbs.
Take your MEDS Meat,Eggs,Dairy,Seafood.
Replace milk with butter.
Make sure you eat lots of salt. The RDA is a minimum and the body will excrete any excess, but low salt is linked to many modern chronic illnesses.
And, most importantly...ignore this advice until after Christmas. |

There’s nothing wrong with eating rice & pasta, it’s what you put on it that does the damage. As any athlete, they eat pasta as it a slow energy releasing carb. Just don’t over do the carbs! |

Diets always work differently for each individual, but the main thing is be consistent with it and don’t go extreme. Like a lot of things it’s about moderation and learning what works for you.
Always start off swapping one or two things out at a time
Try and eat more vegetables as they will help keep you fuller and they’re good for you.
Drink more water.

For starters, rice, pasta and potatoes, as well as bread are all high glycaemic index carbs. They are quickly broken down and utilised or stored.
You only have 1 teaspoon of sugar in tour blood at any one time, so what happens to the rest...yep, fat.
Secondly and more importantly, carbs don't satiate, have no nutritional value except calories and they trigger hunger for more food.
Thats why you can eat so much crap food and still have a dessert...or 2.
So, yes, there is something wrong with carbs...just about everything. |

I stopped eating carbs 14 years ago. Dumped 8 stones, reversed metabolic disease and I am firter and healthier than I was in my 30's
Top athletes don't eat carbs, they know better than that.
See Prof Tim Noakes, the man who invented sport energy gels and hear how he admitis he was completely wrong.

Dieting generally doesn’t help much beyond short term. Long terms changes make differences and it’s the simple ones that work best. Fad diets lead to yo-yoing.
Avoiding pasta or carbs in general might work individually but it’s not something that I’d advise anyone to do as it’s a huge lifestyle change.
The simple answer to losing weight is to eat better, move more. |
