What's your favourite oil for cooking?

For me, it's coconut oil (absolutely love the flavour)

I used to cook with coconut oil, but stopped and can't remember why? I'll just blame brexit and/or covid and carry on with olive.

Be careful with the heat, I keep extra Virgin for non cooking and blended olive oils suitable for high temps for cooking. For Indian I only use East End butter ghee

Yeah I was gonna say. Extra virgin for dressing, normal for cooking as EV smokes so easily

"Ground nut. I don't know why.."

Satisfy my curiosity or level of stupidity; is ground nut oil made from nuts that are ground up or extracted from a certain type of nut that grows on the ground? What was ever wrong with crisp & dry, why do we need all this fancy shit to try impress other people?

You’re about right. Olive oil is too acrid for cooking and loses its properties at a high heat. Veg oil is good enough for frying and walnut oil is good for stir fry’s. I only use olive oil for salads and as a condiment.

Or garlic infused rapseed oil, as I can't have fresh garlic.

Have a look at the ingredients in a bottle of veg oil. It’s 100% rapseed.
