Anyone else just not feeling in the Christmas spirit this year?
Not sure if I am just down, but I haven't even put my tree up. Can't see the point as there is only me here.
Sorry to put a downer on it, if you are riding the Christmas wave. |

It’s a funny time of year OP with so many excited and others are at the other end.
It’s ok to not be ok
What’s important is that you don’t ever apologise for feeling low. Talk about it like you have done here and you will find others that will support you through whatever you need.
Don’t forget we have all been through some major things the last couple of years but we are still here rocking it

Totally agree with you and with your feelings, and I don't think it is a downer, I believe that many of us have similar feelings, regards a tree I haven't event get one yet. |

I didn't,the prospect of spending Christmas on my own was a dark thought,but my best fab friends have invited me over for Christmas dinner, going over Christmas Eve,going home boxing day morning, Christmas is not about spending a fortune on presents ,food,alcohol,it's about goodwill, friendship and kindness,and I absolutely love this couple,they really are the best of people. |

I'm on night shift Xmas eve. So I'll be asleep all day Xmas day. By the time I wake up it will be all over  .
Our Xmas day is gonna be a big family party with outdoor log burner, lots of snacks, and curry, pizzas and Mary Berry sausages. Family have been asked to bring their own blankets, summer house and house will be open too if it rains though. Can't wait for boxing day .....its gonna be awesome xxxxx |

I think alot of people are in the same boat. The last 2 years have been swap, change and cancelled. Just on Sunday, Boris was on about boosters. And its on everyones lips if and when more restrictions? Which is putting lots on edge.
Magaxine shows on tv, are being good and exspressing that Christmas is not "fixed in tradtion". You do you. Lots we're saying their having curry or pizza for Christmas dinner. Spending time alone, or not meeting up with extended family.
Don't beat yourself up op. It's one day. Gone quicker than it comes. If your nor feeling it - meh. Theres always next year. |

I've spent Chriatmas alone. Single mum in my 40's. Kids opened stuff at home at mine. Then they went to their dad with extended family. I was left home alone. You always think of an old person alone at Christmas, not always the case.
I really didn't mind it. I had curry for lunch, afternoon nap. Clear up, before the on slought of them arriving back with a ton of stuff, before bed. |

I’m not feeling it, I’ve been in a slump for a few weeks. I’ve had to distance myself from some family to try and capture some Christmas spirit. It also peeves me of how Christmas is so commercial, all the expectations of it, if it wasn’t for my children I’d bin off Christmas |

For many years I’ve wanted to look forward to Christmas but I just don’t.
The build up, the pressure to find presents, the chore of writing out the cards… I’ve gradually reduced everything to almost no effort, and almost no thought, but still the expectation is that I should be enjoying the run-up, and the day itself.
I don’t.
But I still live in hope, because (in the past) I’ve had lovely times.

I have been like this for a couple of years now, look forward to christmas, December comes and I go flat.
We have a big dinner on christmas day with the family, this year my mum is coming down for the first time in years. Still nothing. |

I am and I'm not if that makes sense. Presents purchased and mostly wrapped. Food ordered. Goose ordered. Decorations up not really, got a tree with no decs and that's about it. Usually like clockwork first weekend in December everything is up. Think it is a mixture of, the youngest is 21 today so obviously been organising that and we lost two family members this year so it won't be the same.

Im not feeling it much either i have my tree up and have my gifts bought but i just cant wait for it all to be over, 2nd year without my mum and 4th without my dad and it just seems to get harder  |

First year for 3 years that I'm not working (at the moment) my kids are teenagers so don't get as excited but I've worked my ass off this year to try & give them everything they want. Can't say I'm overly enthusiastic but I think when the day comes it'll be great  |
