Newcastle and Gateshead

Nominees…..

Tom Daley

Tyson Fury

Adam Peaty

Emma Raducanu

Raheem Sterling

Sarah Storey

So…. Does anyone think Emma won’t win it????

If not, make the case for who should?

Also… anyone left out? ( you have to think they were holding a spot for Lewis Hamilton and it would have been 7 if he had won yesterday)

No mention of Kevin Sinfield who has achieved more for mnd awareness and fund raising to help his friend a true sportsman and athlete this guy should be the only nominee

It’s a strong lineup! I think Dame Sarah Storey.

Emma will (hopefully) get another chance.

I’m not a betting man but I would be totally and utterly gobsmacked if Emma Raducanu doesn’t win it. What she did in NY was phenomenal. And she also pulled out of Wimbledon through feeling I’ll. So in a way she is unbeaten in the past 2 grand slams.

You would think he would get some sort of special award like Marcus rashford did last year…

I’ve no idea who he is (genuinely, not shit posting), but the idea is the celebrate all the nominees before the public chooses the winner who takes home a purely ceremonial trophy. The winner is sport, to be cheesy.

For sure one was out if he’d won, I find it interesting he wasn’t in anyway but he’s won it before I think?

If it isn’t Raducanu I’ll eat my hat. And I don’t want to do that as it’s a rather elegant lady hat.

Quite near Bath usually

Of the contenders nominated, it should be Dame Sarah Storey or Adam Peaty based on sporting achievement.

Kevin Sinfield is an absolute shoe-in for the Helen Rollason award

Team and Coach of the year should be the England Red Roses and Simon Middleton. If they don’t win I’m never paying my BBC license fee again.

World SPOTY is a bit more difficult to guess…

Surely Kalvin Phillips deserved to be nominated? Playing in the championship two seasons ago to being awarded player of the tournament in the European championships in the summer and helping England get through to a major final for the first time in my lifetime!

Why should able bodied sports people be nominated over disabled athletes? It should be based on achievement. I'm not suggesting every person I listed should be on the final list, but they COULD be. I bet hardly anyone has heard of most of them, but they are all exceptional in their sports, high achievers etc.

"Looks to me that the nomination rules are diversity not sporting results"

To which I ask you the same question as the other person who claimed PC….

You pick 6…….

Remember Tom Daley won a gold and a bronze at the Olympics where every other diving medal was won by the Chinese

Sarah storey won 2 Paralympic gold medals

Raheem Stirling was the best English player on the team that almost won euro 2020

I can see why all those were picked regardless of any pc connotations you may infer

Kenny only won one gold and one silver this time round… my argument would be do you want a year award or a lifetime award…..

I think cavandish has a much stronger argument…he is the one I would have thought about!!!!

Lewis Hamilton… again, if he had won Sunday then yes,
