Right then, me and Dieu are on a body shaping and fitness journey after the new year.
We've downloaded the lazy bastard to 5k app. Go us.
I've ordered one of those hula hoopy things that has a weight on it and "when you lose inches" you adjust it to make it smaller.
Anything else that's reasonably priced (cheap) you peeps can recommend for doing at home that won't take up much space?
Sorry Dieu, it's happening and I'm gonna kick your arse as I hope you will kick mine if I don't commit to this. |

Get some resistance bands, and find a you tube workout. Lilly sabri does loads, between 5 minutes and full 1 hour workouts.
Building muscle will tone you, and help burn fat. |

Yes. Resistance bands for sure. During the first lockdown I got a set for under £10 on eBay. (You get what you pay for but these do the job) |

"Cut out bread, rice, pasta and meats, other than fish...cheap as chips, no?
Oh, and definitely no chips!!
I may cry
And I don't do fish "
Ohh alright! Dry ya eyes. Just walk then, and cycle if you like, two friends of mine shifted a load of weight through lock down, doing these simple things. |

Please may you send me the hula hoopy thing link via WA? I've realised how much I love losing weight and I've got a green satin dress calling my name come four months.
In terms of things I'd recommend, running really helped me get a bit of a grip on it. This might sound daft but yoga is quite good because it works on your mental state. So a yoga mat, YouTube videos and you're good to go. |

Check out James Smith Academy, has an acquired taste with his unique personality, but he’s simplifies fat loss an awful lot. Breaks down a lot of myths about various training methods and ‘diets’. |

"You will wait till after Christmas, Peach? Right?"
Yeah, I'm working full on til Jan and I want us to start together so neither of us have a head start.
I'm gonna have a word at work to see if my shift pattern can become somewhat.... less toll takey. I often work the late shift, then the early or a late shift then a double shift, rinse and repeat. It wipes me out coz I only get a couple of hours sleep and I don't eat well at all. |

I didn’t have any faith on Youtube workouts but they *do* work if you’re disciplined! There is a plethora out there. The Body Project is a good one- not too taxing and should set you to a good start.
Couch to 5k is great. I can’t recommend running enough to burn calories quickly and build fitness. I was sooooo on my way in training for the London Marathon last year but I was very ill with the vaccines (esp the first dose) that I had to defer. It IS definitely happening in 2022! I have 2 stone to shed and get the running bug going again… |

Honestly, couch to 5k is pretty much all you need to start running.
If your budget allows I'd definitely recommend going to a PROPER running shop and get assessed for decent running shoes that suit your running style. Well worth it in the long run. Good luck. |

Check out the 30 day yoga journeys on the tube. that's 'you' not 'porn'.
Get your phone to throw it to your TV. Invite a friend, move the sofa.
Feel virtuous and spiritual when you have done it. |

Like a lot of people have said there's loads of good YouTube stuff out there.
I would recommend trying to get a good balance of cardio and weights. It's too easy to just focus on one.
Keep a lot of what you do for cardio and weights. You'll be surprised how much you'll have progressed but it also gives you an aim each time.
Pick something to do. A competition, an event, anything just to give yourself focus.
In terms of body composition the biggest thing that's helped me is tracking my food. I just use myfitnesspal and its seco d nature now. Down 39kg since I stopped competing in strongman and I'd honestly say my training has had no more than 10% of the difference. The rest was down to nutrition. You can tell that a scientific fact because I used percentages. |

There’s loads of help out there but diet is key, look into macro tracking and callisthenics before spending money on gym memberships, body weight squats and press-ups can work wonders, you can do it |

I lost 3 stone pre covid from running every other day and doing daily home workouts. Sadly I’ve gained one and half back so need a kick up the arse to get going again. |

You can’t out train a bad diet. 70 percent diet 30 percent fitness. Sort out your macros calories protein etc and then do your exercise it’ll make a bigger difference.
Two words
Calorie deficit
Yea it’s rich coming from the fat bird haha but I’m on my way to gastric sleeve surgery. I’ve had to sit through dietician appointments telling me all this for years but thyroid and PCOS mean I’m a fat fuck lol oh and add in binge eating disorder for good measure x |

So glad you posted this - thanks!
I am loving your motivation. And you have full permission to kick my sizeable arse if I don’t step up ... although I am totally gonna.
Been a couple of years since I’ve had sex too. My body issues and lack of confidence were kinda a passion killer But that mentality can fuck right off going forward. Apart from anything else, I need to get laid!!
But I’m 3 1/2 stone down and looking and feeling sooo much better. Would love to lose a stone or two more, and become fitter in the process.
Looking forward to working with you on our goals ... and with anyone else who wants to join us
January 2022 is our time, PP! x |

My three tips for losing weight
Not eating the calories in the first place is honestly much easier than exercising to loose them.
Doing exercise you enjoy is far far easier than trying to convince yourself to do something you don't find fun.
Finding a way to increase your activity levels through the day makes a big difference - walk to the local shop instead of driving. Park at the back of the car park, use the stairs not the lift. Get in the habit of thinking about ways to increase the amount you move. Modern life is designed to make everything a effortless as possible, it takes a conscious effort to counteract this.
Good luck both of you.

It is definitely more what you eat than the exercise. I use to work out for an hour a day and hardly saw any change. Once I cut back on calories I lost weight quickly.
Do some workouts without any equipment, loads on YouTube. I find these more effective than any cardio. I do cardio when I'm pissed off to burn some aggression! |

Woo hoo! Loving the force of this you two.
I'm not far behind you.
After a year of health issues I've struggled to be consistent with my fitness and have put on a few pounds gradually. Ageing and perimenopausal madness and life adjustments mean I need to keep up the wellbeing and be fit and strong going forwards.
Good luck PP and Dieu |

If your starting running then on non running days I would recommend doing planks for core strength, no equipment needed. Also the NHS strength n flex has some good ideas.
Right if I'm giving advice its I time took inspiration from you both as well, swimming for me |

"Consistency is the key "
Absolutely. If there’s one thing losing the weight has taught me, is that I DO possess self-discipline. Not shitloads of it I grant you, but definitely some.
And doing it with someone else lends a degree of accountability to the whole thing.
I am also going to get my girls on the case, and tell them to nag me if necessary. They’re good at that! |

Oh good luck both. I use hulahoop. Love it. Crack some music with good rhythm on and work those hips. When I was more regular I I see the results very quickly. Need to whip myself again and crack on again. X
