I haven’t done legs in years. I used to box. The ring was upstairs in the gym. The bags and weights were downstairs. So I’d get there early every day and usually I’d run on the treadmill. This day I decided I’d do leg weights. I get too into it. When the shout comes ‘squad upstairs’ I stand up and my pins will not stop shaking. I drag myself up the bannister on arm power and prayer to be informed that I will be Sparring first that day. So I get in the ring and spend the first three minutes stood in the corner, just trying to slip and counter but not moving from my chosen spot. Second round the coach is screaming ‘S move!!’ And I’m screaming back ‘I CANT!’
