It was Yom Kippur this week.
Is there anything for which you need to atone?
I bought a really hideous handbag. I said something to an old friend I regret.
I'm not sure how to atone yet but I'm working on it. |

"Quite possibly a number of things that happened while on tour in Afghanistan, Iraq, East Africa etc."
One of the things I like about Yom Kippur is that it's every year. You wipe the slate clean each year once you have atoned. |

"Does atonement really achieve anything - like a temporary catharsis? "
Addressing your wrong doings, seeking to remedy them and forgiving yourself should lead to more than a temporary catharsis.
If I'm still around I will post for Purim too. |

Sadly I'm not Jewish and breaking the 1st commandments is not something that's usually atoned...lol |

Absolutely, treatment of Jews was horrific as was the treatment of the women and children from the Boas in Africa where they were put into the very first concentrations camps at Winburg.  |

Im not religous at all, however, i do have a thing about churches. Every year i used to go to the shrine of our lady and walk to the slipper chapel. When i was in the shrine of our lady i used to take time out to reflect of my life. I would put a prayer in the box for anyone i knew that needed guidance but wouldnt say a prayer as i dont do that. The first year i stopped going i felt as though something was missing. |

I'm not Jewish either but no commandment is worth more than any other in religious terms. I'd say more but it's probably not appropriate. Peace. |

How very true!
I am not religious and I love going to churches especially when there have choral even songs or other music events. There is something very tranquil, special, spiritual and soothing about churches. |
