The "Will to Fail" (German: Der Wille zur Scheitern) is a known concept in the philosophy of Homer Simpson. The 'Will to Fail' describes what Simpson may have believed to be the underlying force in humans who have simply given up trying: 'accepting defeat, backing the wrong horse, effort outstripping reward, going down swinging, going up in smoke, hitting the skids, missing the boat, that its all downhill from here'. These are all manifestations of the 'Will to Fail'.
Summed up nicely in Simpson Axiom : 'Trying is the first step on the road to failure'. |
