Always douche before.
Basin of warmish water - not too hot, not too cold. (Do the elbow test like you would for a baby's bath, if you need to.) Stick the nozzle in the water, squeeze the air out, then let the douche bulb fill up.
Then nozzle up the bum, and slowly squeeze all the water in there.
Once it's all squeezed in there, don't let go of the bulb, otherwise it'll suck dirty water back into the douche. Hold the nozzle with your fingers and take it out. Your bum should close as it comes out. Put the douche in the sink, ready to clean it later. Then go to the loo.
Make *very* sure you hold the nozzle as you remove it. If you pull on the bulb instead, chances are the bulb will come off the nozzle, and then all the dirty water is going to squirt out of the nozzle. Trust me, this isn't what you want.
Once you're done, clean the douche afterwards. Some the dirty water will get back inside, no matter what you do, so you need to wash it properly. A sink of hot water, a little bit of bleach in the water, and give it plenty of goes of filling it up and squeezing it out until you're satisfied it's clean. |
