Unless the transaction is ‘under the counter’ it is pointless having more than 10k these days as few legitimate businesses would take cash exceeding that amount.
Have handled much larger amounts in the past. But all electronic these days. Far more practical. |

I went to buy a car privately.
I had already given my insurance company the details and they said if you don’t get it just let us know and we’ll cancel it.
As I had to travel a long way to see it I didn’t want to arrange for payment and travel all the way back again so had to pay cash on the day if I wanted to drive it away.
10k. |

"Maybe 5k in cash?
You live in London though, that's cheating "
A friend of mine told me he had a flat mate (chinese) who kept all her cash in luggages. So she’d go to the bank and pay for a year rent, just like that
London eh!! |

22k in old £50 notes my along long time ago my aunt was matron for sheltered accommodation ( bungalows ) for the elderly and an elderly lady was in hospital and her bungalow was ransacked by burglars they left the bungalow a tip and my aunt asked me to come and help clean up . I picked up to large straw hats off the kitchen floor.
The elderly lady’s son turned up and said are the two straw hats on top of the wardrobe?
Burglars had slung them from the bedroom threw the door into the kitchen and didn’t realise her life savings were between the two straw hats . |

36k about 10 years ago. Barclays had closed my account without giving me an explanation whatsoever apart from saying there was suspicious activity on my account. Had to take the cash out and deposit into another bank. Then couple of months later received £100 as a gesture of goodwill for barclays making a mistake.. |

Probably around £25k in 1990 so a lot of cash back then, not sure of the amount as it was half the taking from a toyshop at Christmas.
Best tip ever is carrying it in a McDonald's bag as nobody suspects it's money |

A few million dollars worth of the local currency where I was at the time, in a box, if that counts. But then we were handling a few hundred boxes with about 0.5 - 5 million dollars+ (=) in each!
