Any one else still without electric?

It's quite thought provoking how much we actually rely on electric. Don't fully realise until there's a power cut.

Here's the government pushing for electric vehicles? What will happen in a power cut then?

Have to say the local community have been fabulous in providing free hot food and drinks. The community really pulls together and is incredibly heart warming.

Yes it is. Been told it's a possibility that we may be having pot noodle for Christmas dinner. That's something to look forward to

Get used to it..... the days of constant power on demand are about to come to an end. The green party and our government are hell bent on closing conventional power stations, and relying on solar and wind energy. In the future, you ill be lucky to have power for a few hours each day, if at all!

With more and more people relying on electronic devices to perform day to day things like banking, EV’s, heating. People won’t be able to function without electricity & an internet connection.

Sickening to see the political class obsessing about parties 12 months ago while such a large part of the country is without power

Have you been without electric since last Friday?

We have friends who lost theirs last Friday but it was back on Monday. Know there was another outage last night.

Hope you're getting the help you need. Heartbreaking watching how it's affecting people's lives on the news x

We went 4 days without electric. Wow that was a shock. Freezing cold, sat in the dark. The world suddenly became a very lonely place.

Hope you are sorted soon

Do you have another source of heating? I know how cold houses get with no heating. xx

Sorry to hear that OP! Who is charging your devices? Bless them. What would we do without out phones? Horrible to think how dependent we are as a society.

As for people who think green power is your enemy calm yourselves. You have as much chance of a break in the infrastructure whether the source power is coal nuclear or wind.

Massive storms caused a break in the infrastructure. What's your point, buddy?

So nothing to do with reducing traditional sources of energy?

I'm confused. How has a massive storm taking out cables got anything to do with the source power?

Texas is usually warm, from what I remember (this was actually last year I think), there was a short period where temps unexpectedly dropped to minus 10 or something causing outages. It was a 1 in 100 year event. Similar to the foods and fires seen in Germany, China, Australia and California. Nothing to do with reducing traditional sources. Snow was seen as I remember - Texas is hot.

Yes we have. Been told it could be weeks. Power lines are still down on the ground. We have sorted a generator as we have livestock that depends on electric. Powergrid refused to supply a generator which was ever so helpful of them

We have a generator for the basic electric needs. We really feel for those who cant afford to buy a generator as powergrid/government haven't helped so far with us.

About a quarter of Texas's electricity now comes from 'wind turbines'.

Half of those turbines froze and produced no electricity. There was no back-up.

The UK will soon be similarly exposed. In Spain where I now live the concentration on windpower has led to extreme shortages of electricity and the cost of electricity has tripled this year.

You've been lied to matey
