Like today I’ve done some manly* things, using big hammers, drills, saws that sort of thing.
And achieved stuff. And now I keep looking at what I’ve done / achieved and am quietly smug and pleased with myself as it’s actually come out quite well, even if I say so myself!
When was the last time you did that? And what did you do!? 
(* other genders are also able to achieve the things I did but a little bit of casual misogyny on a Thursday afternoon never hurt anyone really, did it!?  ) |

I like a bit of self appreciation if I'm chuffed with the finished item whether it's been something arty/crafty or sewing or something that's required a drill etc. |

I don't get secretly smug. When I changed my own windscreen wipers on my car I messaged everyone I've ever spoken to, I certainly wasn't keeping schtum about it.
I put up a dining table and chairs a few years back and was tempted to put an advert in the echo. Look at my handiwork. LOOK AT IT.  |

If one of us is out and the other has tidied the kitchen we always take a walk through video and send it to the other to show that it has in fact been tidied and the person at home hadn't been sat on their arse all day

Hell to the yes I do.
In the past 24 hours I’ve fitting a wireless heating thermostat in the house. The job was dead simple. The old sender had broken so we jested needed to swap out a replacement, but I’m super proud of what I’ve done
Last week was putting up new curtain rails, and a month ago I replaced an out door security light.
Little jobs that need doing that I’m pleased with my self I’ve done!
I find doing little things like that really helps relieve my depression. |

good work!! Back in the day I used to get people in to do all the big or intimidating jobs, now I try to do them myself where I reasonably can!
It definitely gives you a boost doesn’t it! And it’s surprising what you can actually do if you try it! Well done my friend  |

I'm an expert on everything now
Or maybe as I'm older I have the confidence to do these kind of things where as years ago, they didn't get done. I'm always proud when I've achieved a DIY job. |

I put some new guttering up a few weeks ago. Like I’d NEVER think to do that myself previously. It’s a good feeling when you’re productive for sure! Although I really should try it more often! |

DIY comes relatively easy to me. I've done loads and yes, I sometimes feel good about it and keep going back for a look. Lockdowns were useful as I was able to put laminate throughout the entire ground floor and redecorate hall stairs and landings on three floors. All before lunch (lied about the last bit). |

it doesn’t have to be DIY. Just maybe something out of the ordinary? Designed an amazing spreadsheet, brought together a campaign thats yielding results.. whatever!

IKEA are very good at supplying missing screws. I even managed to get them to supply the underdraw supports for my Malm drawers that were produced before the supports were added |

When my mother said I wouldn't amount to anything i took it to heart, then came the gaslighting. After I met hubby I started getting stronger, I decided to work with my passion which is pets so I paid for a load of courses out of my own money and qualified as a dog groomer, pet psychologist and first aider, and started my business, every dog or cat I groom I think of that miserable old cow and smile, she's sat there watching all her shit on TV while I'm doing something to provide for my little family, I'm still doing courses and I'm always up skilling myself |

Done loads and pushed myself to do chore things I couldn’t be really bothered to do, or that weren’t that pleasant. But anyway… by the way, I’m totally useless with manual things especially manly manual things.
So… I’m always totally reliant on men for that  |

I put Christmas lights around the railings outside my house and pegged the wire down to prevent accidents with tent pegs.
I only hit the same bit of my hand 5 or 6 times with the hammer.  |

A few weeks back I fitted a pig's ear stair rail to the outer wall of my staircase. It had been resting on the stairs for 'quite a long while'.
After seeing and buying the ideal sized frame fixers (quite by chance the only variant and only one pack remaining)in Wilko, I set aside a morning to fit it and the next morning (maximum working daylight into area)recessed the screw heads properly.
Not so much feeling smug but definitely feeling safer, as at my age it is a easy progression through falling on the stairs, going to hospital, getting shock induced pneumonia and, before you know it,taking your last ride.
My staircase, as built, only had anything you could hold on to for the lowest 1.6 metres then nothing until you reach landing level on the same side. |
