Is today.
Please remember those who have or were taken by this disease.
I volunteer for a charity who help people who live with this daily, weather it’s to take them to hospital appointments, or helping their kids who might also be their carers, on top of schoolwork, who are maybe failing their schoolwork, or just take them on a day out, also help them with their housework or redecorating, the list is endless.
If you have a few hours on your hands each week why not ask a charity - any charity - if they need any volunteers?

It’s so important to remember. I was reading a post that popped up on social media the other day about the epidemic and the impact of it. I’d somehow never heard of the AIDS Quilt, it was all very moving.
Charity work can be so rewarding, good for you x |

I’ve heard something of the quilt but unsure.
I’ve been with this place since 2016. I’m a driver for them, so take people to & from their hospital appointments. Used to take them shopping too but that was pre-covid. |

I was reading articles about Freddy Mercury and Brian May said if Freddy had contracted it a few months later he would have been alive now, as the cocktail of medication they use to treat it was made a few months after he died.
So sad. |

The drugs only work for those with HIV, the disease that leads to AIDS, once you have AIDS, you’re pretty much gone, as it attacks your immune system. Freddie Mercury did not die from AIDS directly but from pneumonia as a complication linked to AIDS
He is sorely missed. |

There is a campaign for a permanent Aids memorial, close to the old Middlesex Hospital. Have a look and, if you can (and want to, of course) throw a couple of quid in the kitty.
I knew too many people lost to Aids, but I also know many from that time that are still here.
PrEP has been a game-changer but we need it everywhere to get as close to zero transmission as possible.
