When you get into bed and your already yawning your head off, you snuggle up under the blankets all toasty and warm and your whole body starts to relax as you're about to drift off, then all of a suddern ...............

You realise its the 1st of Dec in the morn and i've not fished the fucking elf out of its hiding place or thought of a creative / amusing position to leave it in.

I will more than likely continue to do this for the next 24 nights.

Bloody elves.

Stick him in a cage. He’s been arrested and jailed for being blocking the slip road of the M6/M55 crossover.

25 days of gaol time.

When did this shit become a thing?

My kids are in their early twenties and I’d never heard of it.

My older son never had this as it wasn’t a thing, being a mum to a new baby if I don’t start it is he going to be an odd one out and wonder why he doesn’t have a naughty elf when he’s at school?

I thought this was going in a different direction

Thought you were going to mention about dropping off and then your body suddenly thinks it’s falling and you’re immediately awake for the next hour after your near death experience

But elf on the shelf in quarantine sounds a brilliant idea

I did it for 5 years. Pinterest was my friend

We had a lot of fun with it tbh. Possibly got a bit carried away.

My favourites:

Elf nativity with some other stuffed animals. The shepherds had tea towels on their heads.

Elf with a sun lamp and pair of sunglasses

Elf dancing with the reindeer Strictly Come Dancing Style

Pants on the Christmas tree, elf on top.

I did this for several years with my kids

It's stressful thinking of nee things each day.

He did hide in my youngests school bag one time she couldn't find him that morning and was not happy when she came home with him

This is a fantastic idea, so simple, i'll get his teacher in on it too.

Mine appeared this morning with a Christmas card from Father Christmas, nice and easy but super effective. However as hes only 4 he was upset when it wasn't Christmas morning
