Small plastic pellets. Used in various industries.
So what?
When spilled into our seas they ch oke the life out of fish and wash about for decades.
Look it up. 230,000 tonnes a year spilled into the sea yet not classified as hazardous.
Enjoy your weekend cod and chips x |

Out of interest, aside from plastic that is shaped such that it ch@kes or otherwise harms wildlife, can anyone explain what the problem with ingesting microplastics is? When I read that we injest x amount of microplastics each year from our food I tend to question why this is so bad and say my habit of chewing pen lids and the like and ingesting plastic that way doesn't seem to be a concern.
I'm not asking because I don't believe it is a problem, I'm just averse to facts that sound ominous but aren't - a bit like asking "isn't it terrible the amount of hydrogen dioxide in our food these days?"

I think it effects oestrogen?
I remember years ago in a lab swapping glass jars for plastic ones. The samples within showed when tested chemicals that had come from the plastic into the sample.
But it’s the wildlife found with guts and mouths crammed with pellets that’s the main problem. Seas barren of life due to plastic contamination that could never be cleared up. |
