Worse to have them unread in my opinion. If you send a nice message with a photo and it’s read with no response you know exactly what it means. If it’s unread you hope maybe they haven’t seen it… even though deep down you know exactly what it means too |

Definitely read. Gives you closure. Although I don't exactly dwell in the unread ones as I've a fair idea they've read my profile and decide not to even bother wasting their time looking at the message. |

Think its worse having it unread, not even deleted. Just sitting there in their inbox for ages. Makes me think, "well they havent deleted and they shouldve deleted a lot of their messages by now, so theyre aware of my message being there, they dont want to delete it, but they clearly havent read it"
Having it read and no reply is a clearer answer than not having it read and still hasnt been deleted. Theres one particular forumite who offered to meet for a social, she messaged me first bare in mind.. but made no effort to let me know if it was going ahead or not, and still hasnt read my last 2 messages. The first of those was from a week ago too. Think this level of uncertainty makes me question whether i should bother with them in future |

No question about it. Don't bother with them. If it's only just started now and it's already causing you a headache then it's hardly going to get any better. |

I always clear my messages after sending and don't think about it. The people who actually want to talk to you will message back, the one's that are flaky disappear. It's a good way to filter out people who aren't there for the right reasons. |

This is true. It's the hope that kills you after all. |
