What the phrase "once removed", "twice removed" etc. means- when describing relatives. I've asked people & folks seem to have a different answer...& when I've tried to read it, Ive not understood what I've read..
Post your own question / something you've not been able to fathom & see if someone can answer it.
Perhaps we'll be a bit wiser. |

I follow the first bit, it's the grandparent's cousin's child that i'm finding complex...
Perhaps I need to draw out a family tree and see it visually.

It’s the number of generations you are from the person. Your cousin once removed will be the generation before or after you.
Your first cousins share a grandparent with you.
Your first cousins once removed share a grandparent with your parent (so they are all one generation up from you) |

There are examples online you can use. It is rather confusing to work out without the visuals.

"Familysearch org have a cousin calculator table that makes it really easy to work out how you are related to someone cousin-wise "
I probably shouldn’t use this with living in Norfolk all my life.
She said she wasn’t my cousin, she was my uncle’s daughter! |
