I'm a big fan of unexpected acts of kindness. Even the smallest act can really cheer somebody up who might be having an awful day.

Rather than post what you've done for others, I'm curious to know what acts of kindness you've recently received. ??

My partner and my family are always doing kind things for me

My dad bought a big cake just so he could give half to me and biscuits that he knows I like. My partner makes me coffee, buys me small treats and makes sure my car is all ok.

Strangers are very rarely kind to me

A friend knowing I was in a little pickle with some DIY send me a set of chisels!

It was just what I needed and unexpected plus it meant I didn’t have to drive to hardware store!

How nice to be treated like that! And so regularly!

How thoughtful! I think it's even nicer when you receive help without having to ask for it. What a lovely friend!!

I received a wonderful gift in the mail last week, containing something I’d neither asked for, or ordered. Someone on another forum that I’m a member of saw the I was interested in buying items for sale but would have to wait until the new year. 2 days later, a parcel showed up with my wish list packed inside. Worth a significant amount of money I might add.

I cried a little b…….I mean I got something in my eye.

It is nice. A friend once said to me

" You don't know how lucky you are"

Trust me, I do!

I had a heart attack in June with no real family close by or friends, when the Doctor told me I couldn’t go home and literally had to go to an ICU ward immediately I needed help. It’s simple things like pjs or a phone charger, never mind all of the little stuff that helps you get through a traumatic experience.

I contacted work to let them know and as they were aware of my situation they immediately started a Watts App meeting to get everything I needed from the supermarket.

A manager of mine paid and brought it to the ICU, she couldn’t even hand it to me herself due it strict lockdown procedures.

I’d gone from feeling alone and a bit desperate (I never ask for help) to feeling cared for by work mates. My manger refused outright for me to repay the money she spent. Endless messages asking how I was and if I needed anything.

When leaving hospital those who knew where I was offered lifts home at any time of the day or night.

It’s out there and often not where you imagine it to be, that milk of human kindness. I owe that kindness now and those who helped me as well.

Actually feel quite emotional writing this, there’s more decency in most people than you realise.

Hi Steph, I hope you've made a good recovery and are feeling well. I totally agree with you regarding the levels of kindness from strangers and colleagues. Thank you for sharing.

I had abdominal surgery a few months ago but I had to travel 4 hours for it. My mum finished washing all our laundry and baked me my favourite cake for getting home.

Another friend travelled across country to spend a couple of days with us to help out because I couldn't do anything. Not only was my husband doing everything, he had me to take care of too.

It's nice when people do something to lesson the load of every day life.

Nobody has text you, rang you out of the blue, checking in on you ? No silly presents ? Nobody in a shop passed you something, shared something etc ?

Love hearing about your friend but even more impressed with your husband doing the housework (without being asked????)

Loved hearing all those uplifting stories so thanks for sharing.

When anyone does something kind to me, I always feel immensely grateful but also has the effect of making me want to do something similar for someone else...and I love the feeling it gives me; its quite infectious! Does anyone else feel like that too?

I can't help it, if I see someone that I perceive I can assist, I do, in a heartbeat. It is just a natural instinct for me.

I get lovely warm and fuzzy feels when I gift randomly to strangers. My regular gifts are given either at the coffee shop, supermarket, or cafe. Occasionally, if I know a persons address, I’ll Amazon gift something they’ve spoken about.

That's good to know. I also love the act of unexpected acts of kindness too....buying a coffee etc for a stranger in the queue or similar random acts...

My brother and his wife transferred me money towards a new pushchair I wanted for my baby as he didn’t settle well in his other. They also gave up their time to come over and give me a break, including having him over night on 2 occasions at mine, I live two hours from them but they have been an amazing support and visit every few weeks as they know I was struggling in the early days especially as our mum is no longer with us.

And my friend who I met through fab, miss delicious whose an absolute support - she always looks after my animals when I go away, has offered support with my new baby, has helped out driving my older son around. She’s one in a million and I’m lucky to have her as my friend

Because I’d bought stuff from them previously.

My hubby passed a broken down car on the long slip road off the m6 at winwick, and saw a lady in the bushes with a young child sheltering from the rain

He turned round at the next island and went back, asked her if they were ok and did they want to ring anyone

When she explained help was on the way he got his coat from the car and left it with them so the child was a little warmer and dry
