So when all the hard graft is over, whenever that time comes…. What are people of dreaming of being able to do in their retirement?

I have a dream being able to leave these shores and live in either New Zealand, Canada, or Italy.

.

Buying a little rural cottage in Aberdeenshire. Spending my time volunteering at specialist schools, reading, growing all the fruit and veg and relaxing with my (should be by then husband) and walking a rescued dog. That's the dream. I might stay in Cheshire so I can see family and friends though, so maybe not the cute very rural cottage!

I'll probably never retire. I'll be like one of those old guys you see in B&Q.

Or whatever the future equivalent will be.

"I retired late December 2019. Due to covid etc . Retirement plans gone out of window "

Sorry to hear that. It has been a very challenging few years for many. Hope things change for the better in 2022.

I'd like to be mortgage free and have some financial fluidity

I hope for good health and the ability to remain mobile

Location wise, I would like to be somewhere with easy access to facilities but without direct neighbours and somewhere with a view

Other than that, I wish for friends to enjoy retirement with

I am kind of simplistic aspiration wise

Pembrokeshire

I was in a full time pharmacy dispensing assitant/shop under-manageress position until 2006, in London, when I was 46.

We bought a retirement home in wales with the plans to move into it in 2010 making it an early retirement for us both.

However my late Husband took (well, grabbed with both hands actually) voluntary redundancy when it was offered the year he turned 49, and we sold the london house and moved to Wales within weeks of his payout.

His retirement plan was to make carbon fibre harps, mine was to play them... but he passed away suddenly in 2016.

I'm remarried, and now the plan is we bought a couple of boats and motorbikes to refurbish to keep us active.

I still intend to play the harps but the pandemic has dried up the gigs at present.

Go when I’m 55 inherited my mother house back home so I plan to do a little consultancy work online and enjoy the sunshine while living of a modest income from some rentals back in the Uk and my pensions. Clothing optional.

I may need to compromise on the 'no direct neighbours' bit

Having watched my parents struggle with stairs, I'd like somewhere on one level but my OH detests bungalows

So, it may well be an 'apartment living' kinda retirement

I chose to retire early. I swim in the sea every day through the year, and either ride my motorbike or cycle. Always something to do in the garden

I always planned to retire on a boat and be a boat gypsy exploring areas with my pooch.

Reality is I’ve just had my baby aged 38 by the time I actually get to retire I’ll probably be so knackered that I won’t have the ability and will end up in a nursing home peeing myself

Not waiting until retirement to do that
