So I’m getting absolutely crucified on another social media platform for my absolute disregard for social norms.

My big crime ? I pack my shopping bags directly from the till at Aldi and don’t use the dedicated packing shelf by the windows.

Eeek, think I’m going to be before a judge at The Hague at this rate.

What say you?

Isn't it illegal to pack at the end of an Aldi till?

I got crucified on a social media platform because I disagreed with a famous person. Boy, those fans are dedicated!

Hmm, I wouldn't crucify you but I probably wouldn't be too happy if I was queueing behind you.

I think I'm a weirdo but I actually like the Aldi system! Through the checkout quickly then time to pack bags nicely without being under pressure.

I am in awe of your abilities.

I always attempt to pack at the end but always get flustered half way through and just shovel it into the trolley

Oh and I usually pack on the shelf because I take a backpack and it needs very careful arranging.

Amazing what some people are passionate about but at least they’re passionate about something I guess

It's eye opening isn't it. I've had to leave the local Facebook groups due to the pettiness and anger directed at people.

I can barely keep up with the packing in 'normal' supermarkets.

Ahh I do it at the till because I’m weirdly competitive with myself and see the shelf as the shelf of shame I like to pack in a really specific way so have to put it on the belt in a specific order. One time I had to use the shelf though and I was mortified with myself

On a mooch

That’s why there is no run down for everything, makes sense now !

I just pack as they scan and pile it in the little space

Maybe this is the key?

Like you I definitely empty my trolley onto the conveyor in the way that I know I’m going to pack it so everything’s in the right order and there’s no fluster at the other end.

I just thought that’s how everyone did it ?

I'm the same! My partner never manages to put them on the belt in the "right" order and I just have to do it

Paradise, Herts

I won’t shop there because of that. If they won’t let me pack my shopping like normal they’re not getting my custom.

Tbf it’s a cardinal sin not to fire ur stuff into the trolley or basket then back it at the shelf . Them queues are usually long and not many tills open

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

Let me get this right, You have to take shopping out of trolly and put on belt, then after being scanned you have to put it back in trolly, wheel it elsewhere and then pack it into your bags, What a palava.

Think I will stick with Morrisons where some of the cashiers actually help me pack.

Not on any social media sites either.

If you are pack as quick as they scan, all good.

If your not ready to pay ... Or pack after paying ....

(Tbh, not my circus, I get more spiked at self service slowness)

As I’m finding out.

There’s some very passionate thoughts on the topic apparently but surely it’s not that much slower to just get it done it one go ?

I thought the shelf in Aldi was for my child to sit on whilst I packed. Always pack at the till and have been known to tell a cashier to chill out and will throw a scowl at the queue huffers and puffers whilst saying wait, let me get my coupons out.

In all serious though I take the Pepsi challenge over Aldi cashiers with fastness. I work in Amazon. I pick items and pack items. I’m fast,

I’m actually always waiting with my hand ready for the next item to be scanned.

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

One thing the Asda cashiers do is bung your food down whilst you are putting the stuff on the conveyor belt? WHY?

Wait till I'm finished then bung it through. I'm fast - I can keep up! You catch me cashier.....

Op, I think there are more things to worry about in life.... Don't you?

I would like to be able to take carboard, plastics that could be recycled from packaging right there & then. It is a double bubble bonus for me as that means I can get more things in the freezer rather than bulky packaging.

I don't do it there & then. It's done at home. But some people do it there at the supermarket. i think that's a good idea me self!.....

That’s actually a really good idea for the recycling stuff, I like that a lot.

And yes you’re absolutely right, there’s way more important things, it made me chuckle how serious some people feel about it. Everyone has to have something important to worry about in their life but until now I never knew that would be one of them

Chams or Socials

I pack at the the till too - it’s easy if you load your trolley properly as you’re going round & pick a till with a queue so you can fully unload onto the conveyor belt

I do that when I shop at Aldi, and the bags are ready, open in the trolley. Straight in, no messing. I don't know what the fuss is about?

I've seen people pack a huge shop in Lidl and hold the queue up for ages.

Some people are quite good at it though.

I throw everything back in the trolley and do it at the packing place. Cos I'm slow

I never really had a issue with this until we had to start wearing masks now I just find it quite selfish.Holding up the queue while they take forever to pack my anxiety levels rise.

Thank god for masks so they can’t make out when I’m calling them a selfish cunt..I just pile everything in the trolley and take it out to the car to pack .
