Date older or younger

Really random question, do you date people your age? Or younger ? Or do you go for older?

I have done a bit of a mix to be honest but upon reflection, in my twenties I dated older guys!

except for my first boyfriend who was same age as me, the rest were pretty much older. When I was 20, he was already 31/32 back then. I used to find it extremely fascinating. Knowing he was older and more mature (total farce he was a fuck boy in the end)

I don’t understand why some were appalled by the whole Taylor Swift / Jake Gyllenall situation I mean yes she was in her early 20s and he was 30 .. It’s not uncommon to have a legal age gap?!

Anyway now that I’m 30, I definitely wouldn’t date younger (only cradle snatch when it comes to sex from time to time ) but definitely would prefer to stay around my age range so +/- 3 or 4 years.

Has anyone dated someone with a 20+ years age gap? (For example, My parents had quite an age gap between them)

I think age ranges often change as we get older.

Older people often like younger people because then they can just lie there while the youngster does all the work.

I don't date but if I did it would need to be around 50/ 55 and above so younger and possibly a bit older say 67/68. Men younger than that are great for casual encounters though.

Older. I've always looked for maturity and security. I certainly had alot of fun in my younger teenage years but I don't think the guys would be looked at favourably in the courts. (don't worry, I'm not like that).

I started dating my husband when I was 16 and he was 23. It's only a 6.5yr age gap but I wouldn't have any quarms being with someone 40-45.

Age ranges differ as you get older too. A 16yo being with a 36yo maybe doesn't look so great, but a 34yo and 54yo isn't anything to write about imo.

Not sure why but it just seems to happen now that I get on better with women in their 30s so they tend to be younger than me.

There is a 16-17 year age gap between myself and my better half and it just works well, maybe it's because I'm a big kid at heart and she like older guys....lucky me eh

Tends to be younger, but only by a few years. I have quite a young outlook on life, and most people assume I'm younger than I am (and don't believe how old I am!) Probably just immature!

It becomes even more noticeable when you get to 50+. Not so much here, but on dating sites I'm rarely attracted to a man my age.

As long as I’m attracted to them and vice versa then age isn’t really a problem if I’m just having fun.

If I’m dating them or in a relationship with them then as long as they have their shit together and bring me no drama then they could again be any age although in that case I probably do prefer a younger woman as long as she’s classy, confident and fun.

Don’t you think that eventually the age gap might be too big that it can become a generational problem tho?

I don’t think I could date someone who’s like 60 for example

But also definitely can’t date someone who’s 18-19. I’ve had a boyfriend (let’s say) a few years ago and he was 22 at the time. And yeah, his immaturity showed eventually. So I doubt that I would wanna go that age again (only for sex) but also I doubt I’d want like a huge age gap with someone a lot lot older.

I don’t know

I think age attraction is like any other... we all have our preference. I personally only date older men. I don’t find guys my age or younger sexually attractive, although I can acknowledge if a younger guy is good looking, I just don’t get that horny connection. I don’t see my preference being any different to that of someone who only dates slim or bigger girl, or only likes short or tall partners etc.

I think it’s only an issue if you personally make it one. I look at it this way, the only person I have to answer to is the person staring back at me from the mirror. Who cares what other people think.

I was in a relationship with someone 16 years younger than me, and we couldn’t keep our hands off of each other when we were together, and spent so much time laughing and having fun that our stomachs hurt. Funnily enough all my male friends approved but a lot of female friends were telling me she was too young. Ultimately it was her baggage and emotional damage from a previous relationship that ended us, nothing to do with the age gap.

When I was younger I always went for older men (my first serious boyfriend was 9 years older than me), I think I was attracted to their maturity, and was put off by the immature behaviour of boys my own age.

Nowadays I prefer around my age, we're probably at similar life stages and have more common interests.

The lady I’m dating is 12 years younger than me, so was my ex wife. I honestly wanted to find someone around my age but this lady has everything I like in a woman. Also it helps she seems quite keen on me.

If someone is mature and self aware I don’t actually think it matters anymore.

To me age isn't a restriction or a preference, I know that's what you'd expect a stereotypical guy to say but the mental connection supersedes all if we're talking about the long haul... if someone makes you want to sing and dance and your heart tingles when they're close, any preconceived barriers be they age, size, shape or colour should dissolve and could give way to happiness.

Casual sex off a fuck site? Ideally 10 years + or - but the boundaries can be wider can’t they for an exchange of bodily fluids and a bit of grunting. I don’t have to listen to their music or their views on politics or TikTok or the like

Oh, op you wanna be a wag?

Ok, hope he lets you sit on his face! Thanks for cheering me up today.

Age is irrelevant. You can get an older person that thinks like a 20 something & a 20 something that goes on 80!

Surely it's the connection you have that's the most important?

To answer your question - I prefer an older woman. It's always been like that in the past for me.

I was always more relaxed. Whether it's a life lived thing and experience or not I couldn't say.....

I felt less like a performing dog (less hoops to jump through?) Less like Raiders Of The Lost ark (tests & trials to do?)

Older women are more direct perhaps? I dunno... Straight to the point & no cocking around (ahem), no pun intended.

A good question to ask!

"Oh, op you wanna be a wag?

I’m an advocate of age is just a number but yeah I’ve done a lot of self reflection on past relationships and I guess I was seeking for a man who could give me a sense of security .

But overall I think now that I’m in my 30s I might still date older but maybe just a few years older and see how that goes

Don't go by age but would def choose someone with some get up and go adventurous in bed and in life and not constantly go on about being bloody old

When I was younger I seemed to date older guys and I married a man 5 years older than me (now ex hubby). I am now in a relationship with a man 4 years younger than me.

I really haven't considered age at the time, it's been the person that I have been attracted to.

I've dated little above and a little bit more below age wasn't a factor but more on personalities we connected extremely well

Depends if it is for fun, or for a relationship. Fun can be any age, relationship seems to be no more than + or - about 4yrs.
