It's Band T-Shirt Day on 6music, what's your most treasured band tee?

Shame to say I've never worn one, never seen the point personally...

Kajagoogoo is a bit lengthy for a t-shirt isn’t it?

Probably a Blondie T-shirt I’m wearing in one of my pics or a vintage Bowie T-shirt that belonged to my mum she got it in the 70s and I still wear it xx

The point is that record labels suck up a massive amount of the money from the actual music sales, so merch is often the way many band members earn most of their money.

So going to gigs and buying band tshirts is one of the best ways to support a band you love.

Plus, with a certain style of clothing, they look really good.

Fair, healthy merch sales will hopefully prevent bands from flogging themselves to death on tour 365 days a year.

Or, streaming sites could actually pay them a fare share of the royalties.

My most treasured are The Smiths “lollipop” tee that I bought in Paris in 85.

Also a Wonderstuff tee that I bought at their last ever gig (although they went on to reform) at the Phoenix Festival in 94.

Today I’m wearing a Wedding Present “Tommy” tee

Canterbury

Have a whole load of them, a ton of Thunder shirts, Saxon from the `79/80 tour, Magnum, Ramones (and should never be allowed to buy one if you cant name at least 3 of their tracks!), Motorhead of course - most prized, Thin Lizzy, from the last ever gig they did on the Thunder & Lightning tour...

That was a dull answer, wasn`t it?

by the big field

Spent a fortune on gigs and tour shirts over the years, pretty much either worn them to bits, lost them, had them ‘borrowed’ or the washing machine ate them.

My favorite was probably the pink on black Neds atomic dustbin logo shirt or the PWEI ‘Pepsi’ sample it, loop it, fuck it and eat it- which went awol somewhere and sometime.

Also had a cracking Orb shirt, that I left behind at a friends house, which went on a Caribbean holiday without me- never to return!

I do have a rather nice little stash of crew shirts from various shows worked, which I’ll sell off or trade when appropriate, the Madonna one probably being the most exclusive

My Motorhead t-shirt.

It's the usual band Snaggletooth logo but it's a bleed through design.

Heavily printed on the inside of the t-shirt so that the ink bleeds through the material to give a distressed look on the front, because of that I'm assuming each shirt is unique.
