I know it’s hugely fresh and not yet in folklore, but I’m convinced in years to come we will look back on Emma Raducanu’s US Open title win as one of the greatest upsets ever. A qualifier that had never even won a ladies tour game beforehand. Amazing. |

"For me I'd probably say Diego maradona's "hand of God" and Mike Tyson's loss against Buster Douglas."
I'm not sure Argentina beating England was much of an upset. |

8 seconds in July.
aka the final individal time trial stage of the 1989 Tour de France when Greg Lemond had introduced tri-bars into time trialling and demonstrated, how a set of clip-on bars could wipe of a minute from the then assumed overall winner Laurent Fignon's lead.
Watching France's golden boy cross the finish line, 8 seconds too late was too much for him. He was crushed by this. He started the day in yellow (jersey)
and even the sporting press thought he was going to keep it. Alas, greg knew different.
Lemond, was then and now the only American to ever win the tour.
That lying cheating ex boyfriend of Sheryl Crow doesn't count. |

The Steve Bartman incident during game 6 of the 2003 National League Championship series.
The Chicago Cubs were close to winning the game when a fan sitting in the outfield seats, Steve Bartman, reached for the ball and deflected it from being caught by the outfielder Moisés Alou. Cubs ended up losing the league championship and didn't make it to the World Series. The Cubs didn't win a World Series until 2016, their first championship win in 108 years. |

Even if she never won another match, She’ll always be able to say “I was a grand slam title winner.” |

Both very true! Personally I think she needs time to mature, she'll be a force to be reckoned with in her mid 20s if she sticks at it |

Anna Kiesenhofer (I had to Google her name too!) won the Olympic road race last year. She was so anonymous and unknown that although she was their to support her fellow countries women riders, they all barely noticed when she disappeared off the front of the race. She finished so far ahead, that van Vlueten in 2nd thought she’s won and celebrated in the line. She wasn’t even a professional rider at the time. |

Biggest one I’ve seen was Super Bowl LI in 2017. Falcons up 21-3 at half time, and then went to 28-3, at which point everyone wrote the game off as theirs and a lot of my friends who had stayed up to watch it went to bed.
Patriots scored 25 unanswered points to take the game to overtime before scoring again to win 34-28. |

"I seem to remember Mary Decker getting pretty upset when she hit the track after a tangle with Zola Bud.
Oops, my leg slipped out sideways "
Apparently Zola Bud got the offer of a record deal after that incident.
She was going to sing the old classic ‘It’s a long way to trip a Mary’ . I believe it may have been on the Decca label. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Same here, football's pants!
No matter what you think of The Sun, their headline writing team is the best in the world. The rest of the paper...
