I mean, imagine you're feeling all sexy and turned on, you walk to the bedroom together, they turn on the lights and you're faced with a bed covered in a fluffy duvet covered in cute penguins.

Some companies do sell items separately though.
At the moment I have the two matching pillow cases plus 2 total random ones.

Possibly. Lord knows what our duvet covers say about us. We currently have mismatched cover and pillow cases because we needed to change the cover mid week.  |

I only go with plain single colour Duvet cover, Fitted sheet an pillowcases all matching, Brushed cotton in winter and normal cotton in the summer, usual colours Red, Burgundy, Black and dark Green.

I have 2 white fifth avenue sets that are exactly the same!
In the winter though I have my teddy bear (super fluffy) set. Only once I had a guy in my bed with the fluffy and he was like get it off me it’s too hot. |

Hygiene aside, honestly no. If I'm in her bedroom then I've already decided I like her enough for what is to come. That maybe I know her well enough as a person to think she's lovely in which case even the most unusual bedding set would be seen as a whimsically cute side of her personality. Alternatively I may not know her that well at all but fancy her enough to be going to bed with her in which case stuff like bedding choice is irrelevant. If I don't either like her enough or fancy her enough I'm not in her bedroom to see.

It’s never too late to back out and run, screaming like a loon, a million miles away from them. The genuine nutters out there act normal to lure you in. It’s not like the movies where they have faces like a slapped arse and dress in the rubbish from your wheelie bin. These people have respectable jobs and bright smiles to attract you and if a duvet or anything else is slightly off, I’m done. |

I once met up with a guy who told me he had silk sheets. They turned out to be very cheap, very slippery nylon satin, and he had the matching sheet, duvet cover and pillowcases.
All was going well until he walked me backwards to the bed, then as he pushed me down the very slippery duvet cover slid across the very slippery sheet and I flew across the bed and into the window at speed.
That was quite off-putting. |
