There are exactly 52 weeks in a year (not absolutely exacty but that's not for now) ... so instead of having 12 months of various numbers of days we should have 13 months each of EXACTLY 4 weeks of 7 days. Much easier to get paid this way, much easier to pay bills this way, much easier for all those who work for themselves to do accounts and compare month on month performance...Its also easy to plan events as you will always know which days of the month fall on which day of the week.
But more importantly, most menstrual cycles are 28days, especially if you are taking the pill... IT WOULD BE SO MUCH EASIER TO PLAN NAUGHTY PARTYS!!
We could keep all the existing month names and just add one new one at the end of the year... month 13 could be called "FABTOBER".... as it would be the month in which all the Fabulously Fun partying and celebrations take place.
What does everyone else think? Government petition time? |

I've also just thought... IT WOULD BE SO MUCH LUCKIER AS THERE WOULD NEVER BE A FRIDAY 13th... that would always be a SATURDAY!!
Our calender was just invented by a Roman Emperor... Julius Caesar 2,000 years ago and I don't think is fit for purpose... joking aside... several other worldwide states have their own.. China, Thailand to name a couple.
The Julian calendar, proposed by Julius Caesar in AUC 708 (46 BC), was a reform of the Roman calendar. It took effect on 1 January AUC 709 (45 BC), by edict. It was designed with the aid of Greek mathematicians and astronomers such as Sosigenes of Alexandria.

Exactly... you would always know what money you had each month... especially those who are weekly paid and end up having to stretch it over end of one month and beginning of the next... working tax credit... MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK... dont forget the government works out all benefits on weekly or 2 weekly payment schedule... |

It’s a great idea for you mortals, for us mystical immortal North Pole dwelling annual festive gift bringers it would cause chaos!
An actual year is a day (and a bit) over 52 weeks so with your plan Dec 25th will move by a day and a bit each year so after a couple of hundred years or so I’ll be delivering my presents at the height of Summer, when I’m normally on my holibobs off my tits in Ibiza.
It’s a no from me! |
