But should it be hot? Or should it be cold and sweet? Maybe savoury is your thing?

Gosh I haven't had a flan in years! Cold and sweet is all I've had before and delicious if I remember correctly! Silky, sweet, set custard in a somehow moist yet short pastry case... mmmm  |

My only memory of the humble flan is those store bought, pre baked, sugar loaded sponge bases. In our house, they were a once a month treat, filled with tinned strawberries and jelly.
