A man I have since found enough details to know who he is
I do not know him and do not know why he has done the following.
He drilled my hitch lock of my caravan broke in through window, hired skips then emptied my belongings into skips then paid for a skip company to remove my caravan. The police have been arses and will not investigate further than skip companies. Saying I need to make a civil claim against them. I think it's crap so have made a formal complaint. I'm currently going after the man who paid for all this. I think I need a solicitor lol. My van was parked in a rented bay from council and I'm awaiting refund as no longer need.

How much is your claim. Reason I ask is you could do it via small claims court - look it up google and quiet cheap but take advice.
Don't forget, you may win in small claims but if the man does not have a penny to their name you wont get anyhting |

"At least report it to police as a theft and get a crime number. The police will do sod all about it, but having that number may help in future."
This. You need to show you’ve been proactive.
Crime ref # that’ll then support any claims you bring against him in the small claims court. Most small claims cases can be won with a well prepared individual without the need for a lawyer.

Have a look at the government online money claim, it replaces small claims courts and works really well, I’ve done a few and got my money within a a few weeks. This sounds a bit more complex though , like he had rights to enter abs remove the items ? If he didn’t I would have thought it’s a criminal matter / theft |

"The man isn't from the council is he?..
Nope ??"
Well as your van and all contents have been disposed of and it was in a council bay, it sounds like the bay being repossessed? What possible motive could this man have? |

If it’s theft the criminal court will determine criminal compensation, small claims is for civil matters only , you cannot sue someone fir theft or burglary , they are crimes |

Your complaint should generate some traction here. That's been my experience. The police are overstretched and under resourced. Unless you push the right buttons they won't pursue something like this. |

You can pursue a private prosecution however.
Will be costly, but it's possible the CPS will take it over, if it starts to gain traction. However, as I said in the last post - I would see where the complaint gets you first. |

Without knowing the where or why of where your caravan was...
The definition of Criminal Damage: The Criminal Damage Act 1971 classifies criminal damage as: 'A person who, without lawful excuse, destroys or damages any property belonging to another, intending to destroy or damage any such property, or being reckless as to whether any such property would be destroyed or damaged.
Criminal damage should be reported to police as a police matter. |

Im also questioning why
Though im wondering where your belongings was and if you had stored them in a caravan ?
Are you in a rented property or bought.
Has your property had warnings not to have a caravan on it.
? are you saying your caravan was in a council bay and paid for
or are you saying your van was in the bay?
was you living in the caravan? |

you need to answer the above comment
but the reference above is theft and criminal damage.
The skip company must give the details over for removing the caravan and hire of there skips.
Therefore following up with the user. |

See police saying they made no profit and spent money so civil.
Currently the person is saying it's theirs to dispose off |

OP
No offence, but b4 you proceed and as i suggested via small claims court but your choice - check that you have legal grounds to be there and what was happening before. If you still feel the law is on your side, then as suggested earlier consider winning the claim but be warned, what assests does the other person have.
I've seen and heard about several people winning their case only to find out the law breakers have nothing in their name so all a waste of time an effort.
You will already know this - people driving around in new cars are often on lease/hp etc and the smart house is rented and more often they are not paying their rent etc
so do your homework before you proceed. |

Why would someone take someone’s caravan and crush it? There’s way more to this.
I’ll come back to the thread when the op has actually revealed that they’d had letters or notices of possession for whatever reason and had been illegally parking the caravan and warned about repercussions but didn’t do anything. Now it’s too late. |
