Is there anything more annoying than driving up a suburban street or close, & seeing one of those dirty 4x4 dick machines parked on a bit of grass, or up a curb or something!!
Seems like they dicks driving them can’t parallel park them on a flat piece of road, they have to justify the pathetic 4x4 stickers plastered over them

People that park like the OP stated also park on their front gardens no dropped kerb/etc and too close to the car in fron/back or side. More often than not they are lacking a fully legal road worth vehicle/etc and ready to fight anyone they think they can win or is too decent to mix with shits like them as the others have a job/family etc to keep and these parasitic inbreds cheat the dole system on the whole.

Same here, several times, last brand new suv 4x4 discovery land rover nothe big ones keyed front to back - i never had it repaired as so p'd off and will sell it like that but - then I have s class that too was damaged dent about the passenger door handled a crease - had the dent man fix that best as he could and even he agreed it was not accidetal knock as too heavy of a knock.
had 2 of my tyres slashed about ten years ago when we bought a brand new MB ML - kerbside whist parked properly and carefully on a side road when we went to a park |

You knock a 4x4 now but a few of us go out in bad weather be that heavy rain snow and other emergency settings in a built 4x4 none of the Wana be ones yes there are some that can't park for shit or they are bright pink ffs then you know that's not seen any action in it's life so next time you see a truck with mud on just think has he been out having some fun and training to save a life or food medical supplies or a doctor to someone who's cut off from it all |

For the love of god don't ever come and live out in the countryside if you have an issue with 4x4 as they are an essential part of life for many people where I live, I don't think a posh little tesla would do very well driving across a muddy field to get to livestock or check land drains  |

You can live in the countryside without a 4x4 trust me.
Up until about 17 years ago we did not have a 4x4 but had various mercedes e class - we moved in london not the countryside - coming back from work it snowed heavy - manged to get home and cam off the main road into our close and there was a slight gradien has to stop the car as one coming the other way and that was it it was stuck - got nigbours etc to hlp push me to our drive and would not go on it - all merceds well the ones we had were rer wheel drive - dad said change to winter tyres we did the next days and I JEST YOU NOT - the car drove in places where 4x4 failed - ITS THE TYRES THAT MAKE AMASSIVE DIFFERENCE
We have summer sports 21 in tyres on our suv - even in the snow mode it finds it a struggle - get winter tyres

My pick up still stinking of the sea gathered from the beach, nearly got bogged down but got the 4 wheel drive, later out on the bog loaded up with the peat for the winter fuel to keep the stove going through the winter. Then again had to go to the shore to get rocks for the walls around the property. Must have been a good ton of rocks in the back. Yes and my back is killing me now. How do people survive without a real motor?
Managed to scrounge a few pallets to make the kindling for the stoves. Fingers crossed we have some heating for the winter as there is no way we can afford oil, gas or electricity to keep warm. We just got to burn everything we can forage. |

Road tax is on a vehicles emissions as far as we are aware, not based on whether you live in the city or the countryside. |

I have a LandRover , with chunky tyres and I drive across farmers land every day.
Oh, and I only wash it for it’s annual service and MOT. I get the pressure washer right underneath, I don’t like the idea of some poor mechanic having shit falling on him when it’s up on the lifter. |

Yes you can live in the countryside without a 4x4 that's obvious but you will find tons more out here than in a town or city other than the useless Chelsea tractors that get driven to the school and back although you do still see them. Tires do make a huge difference yes but there are limits and as for getting places a 4x4 can't that is down to a poorly equipped vehicle or lack of driving ability on the part of the 4x4 driver, I used to have a Toyota hilux surf imported from Japan and I can promise you that would get a lot further than any car with a set of winter rubber fitted that's because I had a 2inch lift kit on the suspension giving me about 14inchs of ground clearance and a set of nice chunky mud and snow tires designed for off road use, I have waded that through water that came up to the windows and it didn't even break stride doing so that water would have been up to the roof line on most "nice big cars" and would have flooded the engine and screwed all the nice posh electrics, and yes I did off road it and have been all over Salisbury planes (on legal rights of way called green lanes) yes it was often covered in mud up to and possibly on the roof but that's the fun of having a 4x4 is using it for its intended purpose (off roading) it's also made a posh expensive Porsche look like a waste of money when the driver got it stuck on its belly at an off road center on a route that even little Suzuki jeeps made look simple with their little 1000cc engine, these nice expensive 4x4 are nothing but a status symbol without any real capability give me a rough old hilux for £1000 any day |

If you'd said "I sometimes have no choice but to temporarily block the pavement while making a delivery I doubt anyone would have complained, we all accept that some work can only be done with inconvenience to others. You didn't say that though.

I agree with you dear memeber.
People that park like the OP stated also park on their front gardens no dropped kerb/etc and too close to the car in fron/back or side. More often than not they are lacking a fully legal road worth vehicle/etc and ready to fight anyone they think they can win or is too decent to mix with shits like them as the others have a job/family etc to keep and these parasitic inbreds cheat the dole system on the whole.

No, you are not exepcted to block the road as you put but park at another place where you don't block the road or the pavement, a no brainer really.

Parking and delivering are two completely different things.
If you'd said "I sometimes have no choice but to temporarily block the pavement while making a delivery I doubt anyone would have complained, we all accept that some work can only be done with inconvenience to others. You didn't say that though.

If you say you will deliberately choose to block a pavement when you park people will assume that's what you mean. If you say you have no choice but to block a pavement while delivering because of the size of your truck then people will know you mean that instead

What fucking hellscape you all living in that ye haven't got a but of grass between the kerb and the path?
Seems like such a none issue where I'm from. Instead we just have woeful jag and BMW drivers who I think just don't understand parking at all. |

I'm a wheelchair user (self propelled). I can't push on the pavement on my street because cars are wholly parked on the pavement (not just two wheels on). I must push in the road, into oncoming traffic. Wheelchairs are below bonnet height on many vehicles. I quite literally take my life in my hands while taking my child to school or if I want to go to the shops.
There's no grass or other space between the pavement and the road, and even if there is, you still should not be parking on the pavement! |

I think you've missed a huge part of the convo. In his initial post he didn't mention being a delivery driver or driving a truck and just said he parks on the kerb so as not to block the street and questioned what else he was supposed to do. He was told by several that he should find somewhere legal to park and it was only then that he said about being a delivery driver - see the comment a few comments up about moving the goal posts. In a thread about 4x4 parking to simply say "I park like this" without mentioning the fact that he isn't taking about a 4x4 or even a car but a delivery truck is a bit obtuse at best, deliberate trolling at worse.
As I said above, if he had said he sometimes needs to pull onto the kerb in his truck to make a delivery no one would have complained.

People do park large vehicles like delivery vans on the kerb overnight. There's a guy on my street who does removals and his van blocks the kerb. Another on the street adjoining brings home road repair vehicles, with which he also blocks the pavement. I have to push in the road constantly while trying to get a 4yo to navigate her way around these obstacles on the way to school but no-one seems to give a shit *shrugs* |

I'm not sure when buying a vehicle that you can't legally and safely park became everyone else's problem. If there's no room outside your flat / house to park it safely why buy it? More to the point why are local authorities / police not doing anything about it? |

Only illegal to park on the pavement in London but anywhere in the UK police can charge you with causing an obstruction of the pavement.

The types that park on pavements I steer clear of them as I don't want to get into trouble.
if you see a car on the pavement, if you have the time - report/take a picture of few of the ididots and coucils in london often send them a warning letter. if its near your home et, some coucils do send out enforcment officers to ticket the idiots car/van/etc |

It's been reported on multiple occasions. A local councillor lives a few doors down from me and I have sent so many messages about it. Nothing changes. Even more thrilling was when they dug up all the pavements recently for gas works. They didn't put a pedestrian route in place, you just had to go in the road. It added an extra frissón to the school run anyway |

I have, to no avail! One of the councillors lives a few doors up and he is well aware. I've sent emails to the Council. They don't care. People locally don't care. They will only care if they themselves end up needing to use a wheelchair or assist someone else who has mobility problems. |
