The perks of being an adult

I was romanticising again the idea of being a teen as I’ve done a full immersion on teen drama and films … yes it can be exciting how carefree it might have been, and the parties and the energy and everything felt kinda new …BUT it made me actually think… I mean who actually wants to live under the parents roof again (I moved out by 18-19) ? And what about the skin problems and barely having money… and being inexperienced.

So what are your favourite perks of being a grown ass adult?

For me, the best one is being able to make completely your own decisions… if I want dirty sex, I’ll have dirty sex in the house. If I wanna go to a retreat for 6 months and disappear. I can do that. And all the pretty things we can buy, without having to explain!!!

I wouldn't be a child of teenager again, I like being an adult, I like being mature. Sure there's all the bad stuff like bills and doing responsible things but there's way more good stuff watching exactly what you want on telly, eating when and what you want, making your own decisions, leaving the crusts from a sandwich and having nobody tell you to eat them

Not having to get up, washed and dressed before midday.

I can eat cake for breakfast.

I don't have to be home for dinner at 5 (although that's a really hard habit to break)

Not having to attend family events

I don't think I'd ever want to be a teen again. The best thing during my teenage years was moving out and getting engaged.

I think the perks of being an adult is you don't have to answer to anybody in a higher family authority to you. (like parents, older siblings).

I would have said the freedom but as a mother that's flew out the window with a one way ticket.

Maybe another perk is being able to treat parents to the thing they barely experienced when we were young because as above... No freedom with kids.

Thirded. If we get enough of us can we club together and get a lawyer who can win a landmark case that means we all get compensation for being missold adulthood?

I would only want to be a teenager again if I could know then what I know now so I could steer my life in certain directions and behave as somebody with experience.

That sounds very grown up. How about we just all go in a huff, watch Nickelodeon and eat loads of sweeties in bed.

While some people are still patronising arseholes, most people at least accept that as an adult you can make your own choices and have your own opinions. One of my favourite things about getting older has been the reduction in the "you'll understand when you're older" comments. I think some will still be saying that to me for at least another 20 years though .

You can bypass the foolproof security and click the "I am over 18" button on porn websites.
