So Meli was so amazing to suggest Biotin when it comes to having healthier hair and nails , so I sucked it all up and went and bought like 3 months worth of pills … because yes, I’m that bitch
Anyway, did anyone experience break outs? I’ve read that biotin can give real bad break outs and I’m suddenly TERRIFIED as my skin (especially my face) has never looked this good!
And I’d probably gouge my own eyes out if I’ll develop acne …
Also does anyone know if any other vitamins and supplements give this problem??
Should I even bother? Should I just microdose??

"A quick “let me fucking google that for you” for no studies showing it can cause it and some suggesting it might help acne "
The no studies showing doesn’t mean it isn’t a thing!!! I’ve seen a lot of people reporting break outs but they can’t seem to link them just yet |

Girl same (thank these Asian and Spanish genes...) the amount of hairballs I find around the house! Yeah I've been taking it daily for about a year now. My skin hasn't been affected so far but tbf I've never really had problems with acne. |

The medical peer reviewed literature suggests that biotin can be considered as an effective treatment of mild and acute acne.
Though anyone taking the suppliments shouldn't take them for 2 days prior to a thyroid test as it will interfere with it. |

Haha I’m literally blessing my genes cos they been so fucking helpful so far!!!
To be honest also my skin was very good overall but you never know if you make some imbalance… I hate break outs (if I get one I just apply shit ton of tea tree cream to let it die asap) like I can’t even talk about it!!! |

If there’s no studies showing it does cause acne amd studies showing it might actually help acne.
I dunno, can you put 2 and 2 together |

"I've not had a spot since I was 15. Fingers crossed you're okay OP, I think you should be. And your hair and nails will thank you for it. "
Wait till you go through the menopause, I've had no end of breakouts. |

I dunno, can you put 2 and 2 together " some ppl are prone to breakouts and noone really changes just one thing in their life ... So it's easy to confuse triggers. And once someone sees a link, lots of other people will jump on the nadnwaggin at the first sign (eg influencers looking for new stories) |

Estrogen (HRT) will do the trick to fix the breakouts x |

Over wash your face try to prevent it
Both things combine, you get a spot

I never really had acne, like not even as a teen. But I mean reading those stories is kinda terrifying. I’d HATE my face if I started getting bad skin. So hence why I’m threading carefully |

Biotin = vitamin B7. Found in eggs in high concentration and in slightly lower concentrations in peanuts for the vegan amongst us. Best and most absorbable source will be from the diet, not pills. If you take more than your body needs (and your body can make it), then you make expensive pee |

Eat three eggs a day or eat some delicious chicken liver and then you're sorted OP, don't worry about taking anything.
For those of us who are severely allergic to/don't want to eat a lot of certain food types, stick to taking it (if that's what you want to do). I'll stick to better hair and no anaphylactic shocks. |

It's in other stuff too! T'was merely a suggestion. Most vitamin supplements are peed straight out of the other end because your body can synthesise most things from other things (small number of exceptions). Of course, people are free to take what they wish. |
