Which really is the most 'needy' gender?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Is one gender more needy than the other?
Does the neediness swtich genders at different life stages... for example great in younger women, but then greater in middle aged men?
Are people just born needy and needy for life... or does what's happening in our lives make us more or less needy at different time?
I need to know.... ha ha, see what I did there |

hmm, I'm not sure if it's a gender thing or a personal thing, however I do think that perhaps media and suchlike may have some influence on some people.
We kinda get bombarded constantly on what we 'should' have and what the 'perfect' life 'should' be, and what WE should be. So I think lots of people feel inadequate when they don't have those things or those perfect relationships or perfect figures....
How these things are offered to us also changes due to trends. I think to a person lacking in self awareness and/or confidense it can caue them to seek some justification in their existence.
Also how people have been brought up and treated by their peers, when yer young it can take just one person saying the wrong thing to make ya feel pretty feck'n worthless, unfortunately that can require a whole lot of the right people doing and saying the right things to 'undo'

i always thought women are more needy than men, they are more interested in getting married and having kids, where as most men would prefer to have their freedom. of course i may be wrong. |

I think being emotionally needy depends on your personal circumstances and confidence.
One could become more need after a certain situation.
There's a whole array of different needs but personally I've came across more needed females than males. |

"I think being emotionally needy depends on your personal circumstances and confidence.

I am not genuinely not sure whether it is gender specific. Maybe women are just more open in their neediness whereas with men it does not show as quickly?
Neediness can present in many different ways, for example feeling "got at" when clearly one has not been, feeling rejected when another person only states a preference, feeling bullied when the other person only voiced an opinion diffferent from one's one and so on.
I also think neediness depends on timing, when we had a good day, been successful and generally happy we wont feel as needy as when things have gone wrong - in other words sensitivity can be related to neediness.
When I sense somebody is needy, I try to take that into consideration when formulating my response - when somebody is needy, upset etc they are really asking for support not further rejection and feeling listened to and heard is the door to improving things.
I know I have gone off the theme a bit, not intentionally hijacking the thread but I feel that "neediness" alone can sound a bit negative when really most of us can be needy of something at some point in our lives. |

Actually I just think human beings as a species are needy, i don't think any gender within the species has any claim to more needy than the other, it might just be that the neediness shows itself in different ways, xxx |

Impossible dreams keep a lot of people going though don't they? |

Maybe I guess that's why so many 90yr olds are grumpy. |

Women easily. They need good looks, fit bodies, sense of humour, good personal hygiene etc etc, the list goes on. Most men need 1 x vagina. The easier the better. |

Nothing to fail to notice the thread is about most not if there are any of one gender or the other.you only have to look on here there are many more men than women but strangely the needy threads and comments are in the main women. Like I said there is no confusion at all woman are the 'most needy' gender by far. |

Needy is what another person makes the other person into, or wishes them to be, part of control.
Insecure people normally deal the insecure card.
If your not ( either sex) don't listen.

But that's not what you stated nor what I commented on, reread what you wrote and I replied. I repeat, there are plenty of men on here seeking assurance etc as well. |

To be fair there are a lot more men that do the "look at me" thread than anyone else and that could be seen as needy.
Maybe the ladies here are more demanding but that's not the same thing |

They are more overt too - it is more acceptable for a women to express their neediness, men have to dress it up as something else generally. |

Agreed, just look at the best bod/tits type threads to see them vying for attention."
whilst that's very true ^^ could be said for a lot of threads in the forum ~ looking for attention / affirmation / flattery / getting your profile noticed etc.
I don't think any women start the 'who has has got the best boob/body threads' or the 'would you date me' ones.
I'm not sure if it's all neediness or whether it's just playing the game.
